Ideal for day to day photo adventures...

(5 out of 5) by Paul S on Dec 3, 2003 (England)
This camera was designed with simplicity in mind - you slide it open to switch it on, press the button to take a shot, and slide it shut to switch it off. That's pretty much it. It's very very simple to use, and is of a high build quality. The brushed metal housing means the camera could easily survive a journey in the bottom of a bag. It charges itself up fully in around 3 hours whilst attached to your computer.

The pictures at the hi-res setting (1280x1024) are of a good quality in various light conditions; they are perfect for displaying on screen, and will print at an acceptable level too. The camera will store around 45 shots at hi-res, and 140-odd at low res (640x480, which is fine for web use, but no good for printing).

All in all this camera would be ideal for taking random shots whilst out on the move, or for a drunken night out on the town (there's not much worry of breaking the camera). It's ease of use would make it ideal even for children. It's smaller than a mobile phone, and way ahead of a phone camera's picture quality.

The only niggle I have come across so far is that the flash isn't very long range, anything over 6 feet away will be very dark under low lighting.

The simplistic design and operation, coupled with the credit-card size and the metal housing, means I can take this camera everywhere and not worry about how to use it, or whether it can withstand being knocked about. The picture quality is great for such a small simple camera, and in the right conditions, would rival mid to high range cameras at the same resolution.

Just need a steady hand.....

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Feb 17, 2004
I was just looking for a cheap-ish, small camera for use on days out etc. Not too concerned about perfect picture quality as long as i 'captured the moment.'

Before buying the camera i read many reviews on the internet (as you do) and some people weren't satisfied with the picture quality. I've found that as long as you've got a steady hand, or you use the timer, the pictures turn out very good. This is my first digital camera so i've got nothing to compare it to, but for £80 i think the camera is great. Just a bit bigger than a credit card and easily carried in the pocket.

The camera couldn't be easier to use. Just slide it open, press the button and you're done. Same for the software, simple installation and to transfer the pictures just plug it into your PC and the pictures upload automatically.

The build quality is excellent, looks great with the stainless steel casing which you'd imagine to be quite robust, not planning on testing it though.

Highly recommended.
