Excellent in quality, Excellent value for money. For less than 40 pounds - I wasn't expect much ! However this little gem really gives the expensive models a run for their money (or even out performs them!). I've just replaced my old Philips DVD-711 which cost around £200 with Yamada/UMAX 5520. Picture quality is excellent and it's really easy/fast to use and setup.
*Remember no scart cable is included.
Yamada works nicely.
The outputs of the player are:
Optical, Scart, stereo audio, coaxial, composite, 5.1 audio. There are also left and right suround sound phonos but this facility is not mentioned in the manual from what I can see... Yes I read manuals.
The player will display or play the following from a CD or DVD:
MP3 (*.mpg), MPEG1 (*.mpeg), JPEG (*.jpg, *.jpeg) and of course DVD movies.
Put a CD with mpeg or jpeg files on it, into the Yamada and a file manager is displayed on the telly, just press play and the Yamada automagically displays or plays the files on the CD... Awesome. I can state that MP3 and MPEG (movies) work really well and sound and look great.
This economical unit seems packed with features for when you are watching DVDs. I bought Stargate season 4 on DVD at the same time I bought this Yamada and I can tell you it looks and sounds superb. I really feel that I have got my money's worth and by the way I highly recommend SG season 4 too.
Very decent DVD player
It plays everything you chuck at it, even some of my scratched disk's play straight off.
It looks good, had all the features you would expect to find on every other mid range DVD player.
Look past the YAMADA brand badge, you will not be dissapointed with this product.
