After deciding that a DVD player was to be my next purchase,and being a complete novice in the world of DVD,I looked around a few places a came across this great looking machine and snapped one up straight away! (I had to wait a week or 10 days)But when it arrived I knew I had made the right decision.It looks good,is nice and slim, and even though its cheap,it does'nt look or sound like it, unlike other models you see for sale at a similar price that look cheap and nasty.
Playwise, v.impressed with playback and sound(Got mine connected to some expensive speakers,sounds brill!)
One thing to note...It does say on the advert that its a multi-region, MINE ISN'T!, it says in the book that it only plays Region 2,but have not tested this yet,So be warned!
But on the whole, absolutley NOTHING to complain about,I'm 100% delighted with it,so, if you're looking for your first ever DVD player, or are after another to put in the bedroom or whatever,you won't go far wrong with this little gem! ENJOY!

After perusing a range of DVD players on offer & the respective reviews I decided on the Yamada 5520. It's just great! Have tried it so far with pre-recorded CD's, DVD's from the USA; and even CD's I have compiled myself - absolutely no problem! The biggest "headache" I have is deciding what to watch! The "hardest" thing to do was to plug it in; dvd's load after a few seconds - picture is sharp and bright, sound is fab. Can't understand the ludicrous comments about the "brightness" of the red-coloured standby button. It's fine, what's the fuss? Overview? It's arguably the best £39.99 I have ever spent!

Exceptional value for money, bought this for my my mother & father in law, opened, installed nd working in 10 mins, multi-region straight out of the box and played RCE DVD's with no problems.
TIP, set up is easy and its worth going through the handbook to ensure that you cover all the details.
Now all they need is a 5.1 speaker system for the same price.................

This DVD player might appear basic, but has many of the advanced features you'll find on machines costing 4 times the price. The picture quality is good, and a nice onscreen menu system keeps you informed of what is going on. The fact that it plays back a multitude of formats, including MP3 CDs and Kodak Picture CDs makes it ideal for people who don't have a computer but want to see their digitised photos or listen to their son's band etc.

The remote control is nice and tactile, with responsive rubber buttons, and the instructions I haven't even opened! Batteries come with the remote control, as do composite cables - although life is easier if you buy a scart cable at the same time.

The actual machine itself is very slimline and doesn't look "cheap" at all, the fact that the product branding suggests "Yamaha" seemed a little bit of a cheap shot initially, but don't let it put you off - the DVD player looks and works nicely.

I wouldn't necessarily have this as my primary player, but as a present for aging technophobes it's ideal and a nice way to dvd-enable your family!

Ordered the DVD player as I was just after a temporary machine to use while mine was away getting repaired. It came packaged very well with clear instructions.

The unit is easy to operate and works very well. price is a bargain for this multi region dvd player!!!!!!!!!!!!
