Does all the things it's supposed to very well, excellent picture quality, pretty straightforward to use, although I did have to fiddle with the display a bit to get the colour right, and my photo CD's are a hit with the kids!
And with a variety of connection options including SCART, digital RCA and optical, as well as other speakers, it should please anyone.
NB: Doesn't include a SCART cable, but does come with a triple RCA cable and 2 more sets of audio RCA cables for extra speakers.
Buy one!!!!
Great for the money
picture and sound arent as good as my pioneer player, but as this is £300+ cheaper... a bargain
cracking slimline player
Has played everything I've thrown at it DVD (R1,R2,R4),DVD-R, CD-R, MP3, Jpg/ Kodak picture discs
MP3's and picture discs look like an 'explorer directory structure' you just navigate through, volume works for MP3 music from the handset
Bought it for the girlfriend so ease of use was a must ~ just put a disc in and your away!
I was really surprised on the Picture and sound Quality of the Unit, I won't be putting my Sony out to pasture but I certainly wouldn't be unhappy with this player.
Interestingly from the EXTENSIVE setup menu it was set to region one (it actually lists region by name not number) but still played anything I put in it.
Many players state onboard 5.1 decoding which usually means it has digital out, this player actually HAS 5.1 decoding on board, with FL, FR, RL, RR, Centre and SUB phono outputs so it can easily be hooked up to one of the cheap ‘speaker with amp but no decoder’ sets you can buy. Again from the setup menu sounds settings can be edited to preference and the Remote has volume controls.
For the price, this player is ridiculously good value!!
Minor niggles
Display LED hard to read from a distance
With the tray open the front panel button circuit board looks a bit cheap
Ergonomics of the handset could be better, that being said it’s only the menu button is really of note ~ a small button buried amongst a row of more small identical buttons, overall weight and feel of the handset is good, most of the main functions are easy to find and it even glows.
