Bugs out of the box !

(4 out of 5) by dodgy dave on Dec 2, 2003 (UK)
This is a very nice looking divx player which will play DVD's and virtually all my divx(3,4,5)/xvid movies. The picture quality is excellent especially through the RGB enabled scart socket. It can be multiregion modified using the secret menu (open clear 2 7 6 enter on the remote control). The firmware which is supplied (2.7.5) has got some features which make some audio cd's unplayable and it is also unable to fast forward or rewind VCD/SCVD without the playback hanging. The latest firmware (2.7.6) fixes the audio cd problem but not the VCD/SVC issue. Once this is sorted out it would deserve 5 stars. Come on Kiss get it fixed !

Ultimate Pleasure

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Nov 3, 2003
On first receiving one of these units I was apprehensive as to whether it would actually play DivX files. I opened the box, plugged it in, connected it to the tv and tried a DVD, perfect picture awsome quality. I then ventured upstairs and burnt a DivX movie to CD and tried it in the KISS unit, What can I say?

Quality - 5 stars
Audio - 5 Stars
Setup - 5 Stars

most machines have fiddly controls or don't quite perform up to scratch, this one DOES!!!

Buy one and see for your self!

Awesome!

(5 out of 5) by thejoneseys on Mar 14, 2004 (Somewhere out there, in the vast nothingness of space)
Well I'm SO glad I bought one of these little fellas!

I'd been pondering over which divx player to buy for months now and have spent days and days crawling the net for reviews and peoples opinions on this and other brands of divx player.

I plumped for this one after looking at the competition (ellion, yamada, rimax, lite-on etc) and this is without doubt the most well supported player money can buy. You won't get left "high and dry" with this in 6 months time (which may be the case with some of the others as they don't seem to get too many firmware updates!).

The unit plays everything I've put into it (mpeg movies, divx 3/4/5,xvid,mp3,ogg,wma,wav,vcd,svcd,region 1-4 dvds), out of my collection theres hardly any disks it can't deal with and the playback is flawless.

All the connections on the back do everything they're supposed to do, and it works great with my sony dolby 5.1 receiver via the optical connection.

Go on, buy it! It's cheap, small, good looking and it really is an impressive piece of kit for little money. It can be made region free via a secret menu and everyone I've showed mine to has bought one. Need I say more?

Throw your dvd player out and make some space for this little beauty.

A great product.

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 3, 2004
My friend had suggested I buy the DivX DVD Player, he kept on saying how good it was etc. I didn't know if I should buy it or buy a DVD Recorder from Comet. I saw my friends and tried it out, saw what my friend kept on saying about it.

I bought this product eventually, which took 2 weeks to deliver. I tried my DVD's (from UK, Asia etc), DivX, Xvid CD's/CDR/DVDR & DVDRW disc's and amazingly this product worked. I saw the other reviews and I read that the DVD Player can be set to multi-region by the secret menu (Open, clear, 2, 7, 6) and I had no problem, I also changed the bright lights on the front of the DVD Player, from the setup menu (in settings for display, it should have a Brightness set to Max, turn that to low and the lights should automatically occur when you close the settings menu).

This is a good DVD Player, my brother liked it and he asked me to order him one... I would recommend this product to everyone.

Lovely Stuff !!

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Dec 30, 2003
Straight out of the box you can tell this is a quality player - sturdy, all cables needed, and finally a decent remote!

One of the machines biggest qualities is its looks, no larger than a PS2 facing sideways, bright blue eject / play buttons, and a very cool scrolling display.

Setup is a doddle, however you connect your dvd player, esp as all poss cables are included.

Dvd playback - as good as a £180 player, sharp image, great sound, skipping between chapters is uber fast, basically what you expect from a decent player these days.

Audio cd / mp3 - As mentioned before, sound quality is great on this, esp when linked to decent sound system :O)

Divx/Xvid - The main reson anyone will be buying this machine, and it doesn't disappoint, played every disk i threw at it, diff formats of divx, multi divx / xvid files on a cd, everything. hasn't lost sync as of yet, scrolling forards or backwards does have a little delay, but much prefer that to losing audio sync.

All in all a lovely little package, the looks and the quality all in one for under £100, can't complain at that!

Just remember though, the playback quality of Xvid / Divx is only as good as the quality of the encoding :o)
