Pocket Bargain

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on May 5, 2004
This is a great little camera, and worth saving money on the 3MP pdc 3030. I got it used for 50 notes, and it does all I need and then some. Sure, the LCD screen is poor quality compared to your average camera, but the fact it has got one for the price, and on such a beautifully compact camera, is superb. Never be put off by a photo shown on the LCD, because it turns out glorious on your PC.. Two Megapixels is plenty adequate to give a sharp A4 print out of an image and the software supplied allows you to enhance them further. Menus on the camera are easily navigated through, with a multitude of settings without being too complex to a first timer (like me!). Short movies are of surprisingly fluent quality and although 8Mb is perfect for my fishing weekends, you can always expand with an SMC. You will be shocked with the long battery life from the four AAAs, clearly a low-power consumption camera, but this will never compromise your picture quality.
If you are reading this review, you obviously couldn't resist this attractive little gadget... So what are you waiting for? I read some poor reviews before buying this camera, but am glad to say they are unjustified for the price.

It pains me to say it but, don't bother.

To be honest I was a bit dissapointed with this camera overall. I wanted to like it, really i did, the pictures made it look briliant and it looked like it had everything i wanted but sadly not. It beeps more than any other electronic device that I have ever come accross (which can't be turned off) and the screen is awful quality. Yes, it has got 3.2 mega pixels which is pretty good for it's price, but it can't be used to it's full advantage because you can't see what the photo looks like on the screen clearly anyway. But the main thing that lets it down is the constant beeping, it's so embarising when you want to take a picture and you end up with everyone within a 100 metre area looking at you as if you've brought a camera which can recieve morse code!
It's not all doomed however, it's small, lightweight, simple to use and doesn't look too ugly, you can easily put it in your pocket and not have to haul it round like a lot of digital cameras. If you don't plan to use the camera often and just looking for something for the odd Birthday here and there then you could be very satisfied but for me personally it just didn't over impress me. Overall i was disapointed with the polaroid and I'm currently looking for a new camera, don't make the same mistake i did.

Fun for a first Digital camera

(3 out of 5) by Nicola on Sep 9, 2003 (West Yorkshire United Kingdom)
I bought this camera a few months ago. I was not sure how practical a digital camera was going to be for me. I did not want to spend a fortune and discover I was using my old camera! Taking all this into consideration The polaroid was a great buy. For a first digital camera its great fun. I admit indoors if you don't get things quite right the picture can be really naff but the beauty of the screen is you can delete it and try again. It is really easy to use and for general pictures outside it is as good as any camera. If you are a camera boffin don't buy it. If your a novice it is good enough so that when you decide that it is great fun you can upgrade to the 5 million like me and pass the polaroid on to your kids who will love it and you won't feel cheated because you spent less than a £100 on it.

Don't buy it!!

(2 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Apr 8, 2005
The title says it all really...

I bought this camera coz i wanted a cheap digital camera which was fairly compact and i wasnt too bothered about an extremely high resolution. To be fair the camera is all of this and has some good points, for example to transfer photos from the camera to computer you just plug in using a USB cable and use like a thumb drive - meaning you can use it anywhere without loading software.

BUT i have also had problems with it:
>>Flash is worse than useless - it only works to about 1m so usually pictures are far too dark anyway and if the flash does work its too bright!
>>Battery life - at first i was really impressed with the battery life of this camera but i soon found that its rubbish if ur using the flash. Now mine will charge up the flash with new batteries but often when then trying to take a picture it decides the flash wasnt charged after all and tells me the batteries are dead when i know perfectly well theyre not coz i only just took them out of the packet!
>>Deadly slow - the camera takes an age to power up, take and save the picture. The most annoying thing is the delay between pressing the button and the picture actually taking as either your subject has generally moved since it takes so long. This is probably the thing which has bugged me the most since the idea of a digital camera to me is to be able to take quick snaps of funny moments etc and it is impossible to do that with this one.

Great cam for beginners

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jul 9, 2004
Had this cam for just over a year now and havn't been disappointed. Videos with sound are great. This cam does great in bright sun shine but bad a low light levels compared to other cameras. But overall a great little camera that would be great for beginners. A possible recommendation would be to buy the model up from this (The 3 mega pixal one)for the ultimate beginners cam.
