ignore the other review
ignore the other review of this, I have ordered an archos product and before anything ignore the other review. You can switch copyright off on windows media player and swap formats really easily on a variety of programs (it even says one on the support site).
Personally I think this product is great! (if it does what it says). It is pretty small for a HDD player and the screen is a little small, but hey! you would pay around the same for a flat dvd player without the mp3 function, and also it should be able to store about 10 movies? (possibly even 20 or more?) This is the future of portable enternainment, as you may realise everything is turning digital, and this is the next step.
I was looking at the ones without hdd (solid memory). They can store much less but tended to be lighter. I was stuck between a Rio one and a MPIO one. Then I came accross this. It is nearly as small, and (I think) lighter? Also on the plus side it happens to have 80x the memory also (from 256mb). Even with the expansion on those two they were only upgradeable to 768mb and 384mb. Down side of this is when the memory is formatted it'll leave you with about 18gb (but you'd still get the same problem with the cards). Cards are also expensive, a cheapest 128mb mmc card being around £20 and a 512mb being around £90, (you can get them for cheaper sometimes on auctions).

Some people need to read manuals!
I'd just like to say that if people are complaining that the archos jukebox doesn't play WMA files, then they are quite clearly missing the point. WMA isn't the standard format for audio, MP3 is. And since the product comes with a full version of Musicmatch jukebox, which has an inherent ability to convert CDs into MP3 tracks, there really is nothing to fault this item. I've been using mine for months now, and it goes everywhere, containing 10gb of music, and two or three films that I recorded from the TV. This gadget really reminds us that we're well into the digital age! Snap one up immediately and be the envy of all Ipod users!

Great bit of electronics
This is such a good piece of electronics. I bought it, not knowing what it was like and slightly worried it could be poor screen etc. however I needn't have been worried. The screen, whilst a little small, has GREAT resolution, and I've put some football matches on there and it is very good playback indeed. An idiot could use this. It's inexpensive but so good!

WMA
Those of you who use wma are losing out. Windows media player may be easy to use but the fuctions are rubbish and it is like a parent preventing it's child from encoding in mp3 the far better format use another better program like winamp. Anyhow this player is great you can watch loads of videos in divx format which makes them really small and perfect resoloution for watching on the screen. The mp3 playbck is nothing great but is sounds clear. This is a great player for people who are bored on the train and want to do more than listen to music. Also it is suitable for digital photographors with lot's of pictures.

beware
The Archos is very tempting but for those of us who are not techno wizards you gotta relaise that it does not support WMA files. In other words if all your music is on Windows Media Player you will not be able to download onto the archos as it only supports MP3.
I have tried to convert the files but they are all protected by Microsoft licensing to stop copying.
So....unless someone has an answer you have to buy a dvice that supports WMA files from the start.
