The apple ipod is outstanding. I have the 10gb version (purchased from amazon.com and imported into the uk (cough cough 170 pounds cough cough)) and have experienced none of the compatability issues highlighted by other windows users. The only drawback i found to the product is its incompatability with WMA sound formats. This problem was easily overcome however by downloading an excellent free converter from downloads.com - Db poweramp music converter. I converted my entire music library from WMA to MP3 with it relatively painlessly and would recommend it highly to others with the same problem.
All in all an excelent product far and away above its competitors and well worth the extra few squids.

If you order an iPod, although the specification says Firewire or USB 2.0, you only get a firewire connector. You have to purchase the USB cable separately - usefully it tells you this on page 7 of the manual. A sticker on the box would have enabled me to buy one before Christmas Day! - thanks Apple.

Don't hesitate to buy the new iPod, it's a dream and great value for money! I bought mine around xmas time. If you're like me, then you're always concerned when you are handing over that amount of money! I wasn't dissapointed. Firstly, the look of the iPod is amazing, but you will need to get a carry case as it will pick up scratches etc as soon as it's out of the box.

The build quality is amazing - solid and reliable! The actual price is great value for money when compared to what is out there. The sound is good, but I have heard better. Therefore I bought the iPod speakers - waste of money! Factory ones are just as good!

The first problem with the iPod was that you can't download songs on to it unless you have a firewire port. If you have PC then you probably don't. Therefore it cost me another £20 before I could use it which is really annoying!

However, when you have the usb dock connector - the transfer times will amaze you - it literally cpoies and spits them out!

Memory is not an issue - I don't think that many people will need more than th 10g player, but that's up to you!

This has completely changed my life!! I used to drag thousands of folders of CD's and Mini disks arround with me where ever I went, but now I just take this. It is extremely easy to use and very light. I have put all of the tracks from my CD's and music files on it ( about 1000 songs ) and I still have space for many more. It is perfect for everyone as it is pretty basic. I would highly recomend it to any one who travels a lot or is fed up with the clutter of CD cases. It is also perfect for teenagers at boarding school, it saves them space etc. I just purchased one for my son and he loves it. Dont miss out on the great price on Amazon as well,Two words..... Buy this. You will be doing yourself a favour.

The all new ipod is possibly the most amazing peice of kit a music lover can have. I only have the 10gb version which holds just over 2000 songs. Yes thats right 2000 songs, amazing isn't it. i used to have a cd walkman, this ment carrying round about 10-20 cds at a time. Now i carry somehting that is actually pocket size. The only thing i would advise anyone who buys one is to invest in a carry case because the case and screen can scratch easily. But otherwise i can not find any faults with it.
Also with a firewire card you can transfere your whole collection of about 1000 songs in about 3 miniutes or so.
And to top it all of u can use it as a portable hard drive!
It also has a callander and a memo section and the backlight is cool.
The quallity of the music is brillant, the headphones are second to none. Fare better than any sony version.
Anyway as i say its a must have in my oppinion!
