Good solid player

(5 out of 5) by Mr. M. A. Quinn on Sep 12, 2003 (MANCHESTER)
Its a nice size, very mirrored on the front which makes it bad for keeping thise greasy finger prints off, but provides and excellent tool to check whether food is stuck between your teeth.

Having added an extra 256MB SD card I am now able to get 8 albums on it, the fact that it plays WMA is excellent as you can now rip your songs into Variable Bit Rate WMA in Windows Media Player 9 which means that it only allocates as much bitrate as it needs to make it sound good, this means you squeeze an extra few MBs out of it.

The Radio is very clear, although dont expect that you can go recording off it and then use these files as decent listening material, it records at low bitrate but would work ok for footy or talk programs.

The voice record again is ok for note taking and as its a low bitrate you can get hours onto it.

The menus are very intuitive and you soon find your self clicking through them and it always brings a smile to my face when I turn it on or off and all crazy hell breaks loose on the screen with its cool blue backlight and graphics dancing away on the screen.

I am however ditching the headphones, they are painful but thats just because I have been using Sony fontopia headphones which are dope.

If you cant bring yourself to get a hard drive based player then get this and fork out for the extra storage.

Great sound !

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Aug 11, 2003
The sound is really amazing..it is the first time i buy a mp3 player, and the quality of sound is perfect!
I am very pleased with it : It is small, well designed (I like the blue light on the screen),VERY simple to use and VERY fast to transfer songs from a PC with USB cable.
You have also the radio FM, you can even record what you want and you can expand memory..so why wait before buying it ?

Little beauty!

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 16, 2004
I never even thought of getting a MP3 player before. I have everything else, CD, MD hard disk multitrack recorder etc! So I thought I'd try out one of these cool little gadgets. The unit is well made and does what is says it does very well. The software is good, and includes a version of RealPlayer with the higher bitrate conversion for ripping your CD's. (128kb & 192kb). The main factor for me was the expansion slot, as I use SD cards. I've fitted 4 albulms onto a 256MB card, 2 of which are at 192kb because they are orchestral, and there's still room for 35 odd tracks on the internal memory. So as a first time user I'd highly recommend this machine, even more so as it's expandable.

Fantastic Player

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 2, 2004
This player is fantastic. I have the 128mb version, and currently have 63 songs on it. It is very small, great for dropping in your pocket and is easy to use.

The only problem I had with it was that .wma files do not play for some reason (copyright apparently) and so must first be converted to .mp3 using the supplied REAL software. It takes about 2 minutes for a 15 song album to convert, and about 15 seconds to import it.

All in all a good buy
