it seems fine to me

This machine looks nice is easy to operate and the picture quality is good. The plastic used seems neither less nor more plastic than any other I've come across and the light handset seems as robust as any and is easy to use. It would appear to be a good cheap machine.

It's not made by Panasonic!

I bought this video because I trust Panasonic to produce robust, long-lasting products of the highest quality - and was pleased to see the high spec and low price tag.

However, when I opened the package (which was only 6kg) I was suprised to find that the machine was made by 'Matsushita' and branded as Panasonic.

That said plugging it into my JVC TV with the a scart cable (not supplied), and setting it up, was simplicity itself. It automatically set all TV stations and the clock by itself and was ready to go within seconds. It plays both US and UK tapes and is entirely satisfactory.

But it is not what I expect from Panasonic. The motor hums audibly when playing a tape, the plastics are low grade, the remote fragile and fiddly and the cables so light-weight you just want to replace them immediately.

If, like me, you want a robust and high quality video with a chunky remote that the kids won't destroy you'd better not order one of these. Or, like me, you'll just have to return it.

It is made by Panasonic - well sort of...

In response to the first review which states that this VCR is not made by Panasonic.

Actually it is made by Panasonic. Panasonic is just a brand name used by the Matsushita Group. People prefer to see Panasonic in Europe rather than Matsushita.
