excellent but has one drawback
This machine will give you excellent results onto both a tv and projector. The picture quality is sharp and clear giving excellent detail and colour. The DVD25 doesn't disappoint when it comes to sound quality. Film sound provides both the depth and clarity that most people expect from digital surround sound and compared to my previous DVD player, of a similar price two years ago, the differences are there to see and hear. In addition to the usual features the remote control has the advantage of a backlight to help you find the right buttons if watching a DVD in the dark. You can also bring up a test screen to ckeck the colour and focus which is especially useful when viewing via a projector. The best part of this machine, ans its drawback, is its ability to playback on PAL progressive scan. This gives a superior results via my projector onto a 2metre wide screen than the standard interlace format however here in lies a slight problem. My digital tv is not compatable with the progressive scan format and so the output has to be changed by going through the on screen menu. This in itself is no real problem until you realise you have to switch on the projector and roll down the screen to see the drop down menu in the first place, unless of course you changed it before switching off the projector. The Harman Kardon DVD25 is in my view well recomended if you are keeping it for a system that needs no changes of ouput format, but if like me you want the progressive output for the higher quality on a projector it's very annoying that there is no simple switch that quickly allows you to view a DVD on your tv.
