Problems

(2 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 10, 2005
Was very pleased with this when it first arrived , looked great , decent features and played all my Region 2 discs in colour . Noticed that there were a couple of glitches on a couple of films that i watched and then after a week the player wouldn't recognise a disc being inserted.
Have returned the player to Amazon (who have been very helpful) but it appears that the line is discontinued. So you may want to consider another model......

Toshiba??? More like a load of Tosh!

(1 out of 5) by Keith Mcknight on Jan 10, 2004 (UK)
First of all I must make it clear that in no way does this reflect Amazon's service (of which was top notch!).

However, I must put the record straight on this 330e DVD player. I myself already have the 220e model which is very good apart from playing SVCDs. It suffers from sound syn issues where the sound is approx a sec out... Now I know what your are all thinking, it's my SVCD which is causing the problems, however how come my PC and a cheap CyberHome DVD can play them effortlessly? The 330e still suffers the same characteristics of which the 220e model did, even though it claims to play SVCDs (with no issues). My purchase of the 330e model was also influenced from the reviews here; apparently satisfied customers say it plays every thing you can throw at it. Well, it didn’t for me as far SVCDs went.

So, you ask - why didn’t you test the rest of the formats then? Put simply, I couldn’t. After getting off the phone with Toshiba’s help line, a fault was confirmed which when powering down the unit, it wouldn’t power back up (well, the only way I could do it was to un-plug and then re-plug the unit back in again) – So, it couldn't even get that right!

Well, after 30mins of it arriving, I simply re-packed and sent it back to Amazon.co.uk (Returns Department). Now, I’m just awaiting to be paid, a full refund and the extra £18.23p special delivery charge…

Again, I cannot fault Amazon’s service at all – I’ll certainly use them again and very soon. It’s just that if you already have the 220e model, then, I wouldn’t advise the 330e model in anyway as all if offers is the ability to read DVD RW media.

So, that’s it and er, oh … I did get original full English user manual if that's if any help!

Over all very disappointed with Toshiba...

Toshiba SD330

I found no problems with this model. Plugged the leads in and away you go. Picture is lovely and crisp clear. tried both region 1 and 2 dvd's with no problems. For the price it is an absolute must... The future will be multi region and now is the time to buy especially with prices this low on this model.. Fantastic. Not a single regret.

Close but no cigar

(3 out of 5) by Ian Cundell on Feb 7, 2004
This machine came highly recommended and, to be fair, there is much that it did very well indeed. Sadly the one thing it could not do at all was play my collection SVCDs, something my ailing supermarket special can do with ease.
The sound was out of sync and the 'angle button trick' solved that, but the picture skipped, pixellated and then disintegrated until unwatchable (about 10-15 mins in).
If you don't watch S/VCDs, then this is an excellent value machine. But if you do, I can't recommened it.
