I bought one of these after seeing one being fitted to a computer where I work. I used to compose music over 10 years ago and was thinking I needed to get back into it. The problem was I needed MIDI capability for my PC plus some composing/sequencing software. The Audigy Platinum 2 package provides both of these things and more. The range of in/out connections is very comprehensive (S/PDIF, optical, line, mic, digital etc.) and sound quality is great. The fact that it comes with Cubasis VST v4.0 (albeit a slightly cut-down version) means its a pretty attractive package for anyone who wants to get into composing (or getting back to it, like me). It may not be the best soundcard on the market but, in my opinion, the package is a great deal for a reasonable price.

I bought this equiptment to improve recording quality from mics and guitars etc. I was also looking for something to lower the midi latency for use with programs like Reason and Cubase SX. Although tricky to install, The audigy2 platinum did the job. An essential purchase for anyone who is interested in creating music or recording demo's.

I can`t see how this product could be any better! Until I got this I was using a 5.1 live card but really wanted something better for MIDI and audio recording with a guitar. This baby has an active input so you can simply plug your guitar straight into the front drive bay panel. Adjust the input volume for easy and top quality direct recording with very little background noise. I never use my guitar amp anymore! It`s totally brilliant and a must buy for anyone who wants to record their guitar onto PC. Also the latency issue with real time MIDI recording is greatly reduced with this set up. Simply wonderful. It literaly changed my life!
