well, very nice system indeed as other reviewers have said. The stereo itself is good. brilliant quality sound given it's size with DSG and bass/trebble controls. I have a NetMD walkman so I rarely use the NetMD function on the stereo, but from what I've seen it works fine. NOW LISTEN! Before I bought this stereo I read the description on amazon and the reviews on amazon and non of them mentioned what I am about to tell you. This system uses the USB cable to convert the stereo to like an External sound device, meaning the stereo acts as your PC speakers without the need for taking up either the optical or analougue in! The USB cable also allows you to control playback of MP3's via the remote control and display on the unit, you don't have to tuch your PC. Now for the best bit! This stereo plays Web Radio. It obtains an Internet connection from your PC and connects to web radio allowing you to browse stations via your remote control not touching your PC at all!! All I can say is "sweet"

When I started to look for a mini-hifi to buy I saw this Sony mini-hifi. It has all the functions that you could want. This includes CD, MDLP, Tuner and Tape deck. The main plus for this is that the software included in the box lets you control your hifi from you PC/Laptop along the USB cable. So when you can't be bothered to walk across your room to get the remote or to the hifi you can change from your CD to a radio station etc.
It takes a while to learn how to record your files from your PC onto the MD using the NetMD function but then your well away making loads of MD's to listen too.
Speakers give out good umpth and onces the covers are removed look as good as the main tower itself and that blue light just finishes the hifi off.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a hifi that does everything apart from goes and buy your music for you!!

This micro hi-fi has everything an MD enthusiast like me require, and it isn't reflected in its' price! I bought mine for around 200 pounds from Singapore... and was impressed with its functions and sonic abilities. The NetMD function is similar to my MD walkman, but much faster - so, my recording function on my Walkman is not used anymore! I simply burn my MDs on the hi-fi now. It also comes with M-Crew software which enables me to control my hi-fi using my laptop. This was done by connecting it via USB to my laptop. I can also easily title tracks on my recorded MD using my laptop!
The adjustable treble and bass, with its DSG capabilities provide good enough sound for a room like mine.
You can title CDs, MDs, even radio stations easily using the slightly chunky, but effective remote control.... all this in a stylish system which stands out in terms of stylishness... and I haven't even started using the TAPE function yet!

I have just had this brought for my birthday and have to say im very impressed. All you would expect from the sony brand, the sync rec mode works really well from cd>md cd>tape md>tape
The stereo is complex but well laid out and with quick use of the manual u can figure whatever you might need with ease. The colour is a dark charcoal hint of blue not really black however and has sparkle finsh. its far better than a flat black. One further point on look is the speaker covers are a rather odd blue and as result i have removed mine which makes it more appealing i believe o and there is a neon light under the display which is pretty funky at night!
Netmd is also great function especially for carrying about beats all other mp3 formats as the wide functionailty enables many formats. Md can record on 4 formats and the lowest quality Md4 is still of a good standard. It also has md txt incase u were wondering and the remote is very easy to use much like a mobile phone txting. One last coment is the sleep function enbaling u to set a timer before u go to bed so u can fall asleep to music and then with the alarm wake up to it!!
