Living in an area surrounded by hills, the FM reception can be weak.
This little unit is very easy to set up, and is able to receive all the local stations clearly.
Very good value!

Pretty big, but easy to use/pretty good receiver
It seems unbelievable that a personal radio would;
1) cost as much as this
2) be as big as this
and still be one of the best on the market.
I looked into it and decided this was the best for what I wanted - a radio that I could listen to on my commute to work. I like being able to switch at stations at the touch of a button.
It is a lot bigger than I would like. The signal is reasonable - it finds most stations I'd want and holds them a lot better than another very cheap radio I bought previously.

Great piece of kit
I was so pleased to see that this personal radio from Sony was still available! After many years of loyal service its predecessor packed up on me last week. Without exception it had given me years of loyal service( despite having fallen asleep many times with it switched on and it fallen on to the bedroom floor!) So I was "mourning" its passing. Never thought I would still find it available so thank you Amazon and K.K. Electronics.
Regarding the Long wave version...I received my replacement today and whilst it wasnt a personal issue for me, I was fortunate it had Long Wave band.Sony SRF-M37L Personal Radio
If its lasts as long as the one it replaced then I will be more than happy. I have a DAB (not Sony) personal radio as well but consider this Sony analogue radio to be far superior and easier in terms of use. Those of you who own a battery powered DAB portable radio will be aware that they "eat" batteries, whereas this little gem lasts for quite a long time on one little AAA battery. Superb piece of kit...all radio lovers buy this now whilst they are still available and before it disappears under the DAB revolution!

Small, compact radio. Great!
The only thing that has prevented me from giving this 5 stars is the fact that the display does not have a back-light. I often listen at night & would have appreciated having the display lit up... but apart from this, I love it. You will love it too if you purchase it!

Super 3 Band Radio Walkman
The Sony M37L (not to be confused with the M37V which is meant for the USA market) is a fantastic walkman radio!!
I have owned mine, which I use at work, for over two years and have just bought another that I can leave in my home! I have found it to be easy to use and totally reliable. It is a great receiver on all three bands - FM,MW and LW. It is hard to find a walkman with Long Wave so if you're into cricket on BBC Radio 4 it's a must. The reception on FM, which is what most people will use this radio for is also first class - the headphone cables act as the aerial. Reception on Medium Wave is also super - again this is great if like me you listen to BBC 5Live sport and news.
Another great feature is the ease of use. Memories are very easily stored. There are 12 memories for FM and 6 each for Medium and Long Wave. When the single AAA battery is almost wasted the screen blinks and you have around a minute to take it out and replace with a new battery without losing any memories. Battery life is super - lasts for ages. Also has a very practical belt clip.
I have used Roberts walkman radios and like them a lot too. BUT the bit that makes the Sony the better of the two is the ease of changing band and station. No need to tune around or go through menus as you must on MP3 players (that's if they have a radio at all!!). Indeed iPods do not have any radio feature at all!! Any MP3 will only have FM.
In conclusion I highly recommend the Sony M37L. They are becoming increasingly scarce. My advice - if you like your radio then buy one!
