What can I say?! This minidisc player is brilliant value, because it includes an AM/FM radio as well as 32x high quality recording and of course plays them! The sound quality is excellent, and the remote makes programming a whole lot easier, because you can clip it anywhere. It can have a remarkable 50 hours play on a single AA battery (70 if used in conjunction with the rechargable) and comes complete with charging cradle and all necessary cables to get started.
I found it very easy to learn the controls of the recording and playing and could probably control it with my eyes shut: it is that simple!
All in all, this is a fantastic package, well worth the price. Highly recommended to anyone who wants a minidisc player!
Top buy
This is a great minidisc player and does exactly waht it says on the desription. The quality is top even when on the MDLP function. I found out after purcahsing the mz-nf810 that using an optical lead you can transfer music cd's straight onto your minidisc player from a sony portable cd player. This is great as when my computer is temprementle i can still transfer my music. The radio is quality and so are the recordings from it(It might take a bit of time to get your head round how to record but after reading the manual is quite simple).
Appearance wise its cool and the colour is slightly different than on the picture. Its a lighter silver and looks nicer than i expected it to, and nicer than it does in the picture.
The only slight problem is that if you want to use the player without the radio attatchment then the headphones are extremely short and you will need to buy some longer ones inless you intend on wearing the player in a high jacket pocket, but any other pockets would make it impossible for them to reach your ears.
If you want a minidisc player there is not better one on the market with these great features. The radio, MDLP mode, and NETMD gives it all the added functions you could possibly want. There is a case altough you may want to purchase a more substantial one or one with an armband.
(nothing to do with the actually minidisc player but it might be an idea to buy minidiscs that come in a box as they are easy to misplace and it keeps them in order. also remember that the sound quality can depend on the type of minidisc you by and the manufacturor. i have not had a faulty disc yet but a friend had one that just wouldnt let you record onto it. even with the best manufacturors this is enevatble every once in a while.)
Great MiniDisc Player - Terrific SonicStage
I just bought a MZ-NF810 minidisc, which is complete with everything I would expect from a walkman. All you need is to buy a pack of minidiscs and record, that is all. All cables and resources are provided with the box.
But when it comes to the software provided, SonicStage, I have not seen such a terrific thing before. It is extremely difficult to use and understand, it has menus which is out of logic. And more important it crashes almost every time I use it.
I would give 5 stars to the minidisc player and 1 star to the software.
Anyway, this is a 'must buy' for anyone looking for a new walkman, if you just ignore the software provided.
OK, but.....
MP3 player or mini disc? I thought long and hard about this one. 2 days ago it arrived, shiney and sleek, a beautiful thing to behold. So far so good. Then I looked at the instruction manual.....panic! 24 hours before I realized I could pre-set radio stations!
Ok, I've only had about 3 hours sleep trying to figure this thing out, let's put things simply.
Pros:
1. Looks cool
2. Good sound quality - even in LP4 mode (better than FM)
3. Radio is excellent, more presets than you could ever need/want.
4. Good features: shuffle, groups, mic in, equalizers, virtual surround, etc.
5. Smaller than a CD walkman.
6. Longer battery life than mp3 players.
7. FM and AM radio.
Cons:
1. Instruction manual.
2. The software is really, really, really, bad.
3. The software is terrible.
4 The software is awful.
Imagine wanting to listen to something, but first having to translate it from French to Greek and then to Latin... That is how easy it is to transfer an mp3 file to ATRAC.
The software jams regularly (my PC is top(ish) spec).
It takes me approx 45 mins to transfer 6 mp3 albums from my jukebox through the software onto the minidisc.
Why can't Sony accept that mp3/wma is what people use on their computers?! If you can by CD walkmans that play 30 albums on one CD, why can't you buy Minidisc players that do the same?
I bought this as a "stop-gap" whilst waiting for hard-disc players to iron out their problems...I hope it's not going to be to long.
AMAZIN
A gr8 minidisc player and the added netminidisc player function and digital radio really gives this a boost. The software that comes with it is really goodand reliable. This is fantastic!!!!
