Great camera at a great price.

(5 out of 5) by Mark White on Jan 15, 2004 (Southampton, Hampshire)
It is the first digital camera I have bought, after scouring the Amazon site for prices, spec. etc. I wanted a good zoom, with good quality for the right price. I am not disapointed.
The delivery from Amazon was excellent, ordered Boxing Day (Fri) afternoon, delivered Monday am! What more can I say?
The quality of this camera is without question. The controls are really easy to master, not too small like some I've tried. The zoom is great and the early results are very promising.
You can use this camera as a point and shoot, or if you are feeling confident, change any settings you like, it's really versatile!
I have bought a bigger memory chip, and more batteries, those supplied are okay only for getting started!
No complaints, a great camera.

Digital comes of age...

(5 out of 5) by Mr. J. Young on Aug 25, 2003
Being a keen amateur photographer, and owning a canon eos SLR, I took the plunge last year and purchased an olympus c-220 zoom.
This was my first digital camera, and provided some excellent shots, however, it was limited by being a "compact" with a small lens and limited zoom capability. The true value of digital cameras is dispensing with the cost of film (etc) - we all know where this will go!
Essentially, then, I was looking to upgrade, but, being used to an SLR, and not having the money for a digital SLR, decided to opt for the C750. The camera is as close as you will get to a digital SLR, in my opinion.
GOOD POINTS:
Fantastic zoom
MUCH faster picture taking (time shift)
autofocus is VERY good
anyone who has used an olympus digicam will easily navigate most of the menus - same system
the light sensitivity is excellent: (I am still testing under different conditions)

DRAWBACKS
A maximum quality image fills the card: ie only room for one image at that size: writing time is about 10 secs
(Therefore as said before, a large capacity card is needed to get the most from this camera)
Finally, the ergonomics of the camera mean, although it fits in a jacket pocket, it may be an idea to get a secure carry case - it's too risky in terms of lens damage.

Overall, for the price, the camera is fantastic, and I would recommend it to anyone. Unless you are considering basement price digital, I would say spend a little more and get this -you won't regret it.

superb camera but eats batteries!

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 17, 2003
Bought this quality camera from amazon on sepember 22, delivered 11 october. To be fair though it is in short supply everywhere. Now had it a week and the photo's are of an outstanding quality. (correct colours, sharp and an amazing depth of field on telephoto.) The lens are made of ed glass and are rarely found on any camera under £500. I have only three criticism's and they are:- that I spend more time charging the batteries up (Ni-MH) than actually using the camera. Another is that in daylight the lcd screen is difficult to see (needs some sort of sunshade!),maybe I could knock up a cardboard shade to tape on, but then most digital cameras have the same problem and the last gripe is that if I want a separate flash (the olympus FL20/40) to save my camera batteries, I would have to pay over £200.
For the price, (£360 with amazon, cheapest I've found anywhere!) its a camera that will not disappoint you. Happy snapping

Excellent Camera with an out of this world zoom lense

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Aug 18, 2003
A colleague let me borrow the Olympus C-750 for the weekend as I was wanting to take pictures at a football match. I was not let down.
This camera boasts a 10x Optical Zoom. This really has to be seen to be believed. Coupled with a 4x Digital Zoom this makes for a 40x Zoom in total.
This camera was ideal for my purpose as it boasts an ISO of up to 400, which means that shots in low light and action shots come turn out to be very sharp. I was impressed with the TFT screen as well, it is larger than most I have seen, and it is very good even in direct sunlight. Without having the manual to hand some of the modes and settings took a bit of working out, but I'm sure if I'd had a chance to read the manual these would become a lot clearer. The camera itself has a metal body. Many new camera's have plastic body's to reduce weight and production costs, but the C-750 despite the enormous zoom lens is surprisingly light and is small enough to fit into a coat pocket. I used the camera for one day, and that has convinced me to buy it, the main selling point being the amazing zoom lense.

1st class camera, bargain price, can't fault it.

(5 out of 5) by Mr. Mark Varley on Nov 24, 2003 (London, England.)
I've had an Olympus C-750UZ for a few months now and I've found my way around it, I've shot all kinds of photo's with it and got quite creative too. It's always performed better than expected and has proved to be very forgiving and very versatile.
Feels solid and well-made too, excellent battery life, buy more xD cards rather than batteries.
