still very very happy with this camera.

feels solid, take great pics and it has survived being dropped onto concrete twice! i love the accuracy of the colour capture, the depth of detail and the speed at which the camera works. i have used many cameras of 'higher' resolution now but this one keeps delivering better results in terms of colour matching, contrast and that 'je ne sais quoi' that all great cameras have.

i've used it to take 10 inch by 16 inch prints and have never been let down. the limit on this camera is the size of your imagination and the size of your printer.

The S414 is a 'brick' of a camera so if you want slimline and lightweight, this is not the camera for you. The image quality however is excellent and this camera has a lot of good features.

It is very easy to use, starts up fast and recycles qucikly. It also has a very good 'consecutive frames' feature that allows you to take numerous shots at a time - great for action shot photography.

My biggest criticism is that the autofocus is variable and I have a not insignificant number of shots completeley out of focus. This is dissapointing when you consider the standards of autofocus technology currently available.

I bought it based on having Dimage S304 for about two months. I did one month research before embarking on digital world. I own an SLR as well. This camera really excel in every aspect - performance, image quality, size, build and most importantly its value for money. Not many camera comes with 4x optical zoom as this camera. More importantly, using Dimage S304, users have to post processed the image using the provided Minolta Dimage Viewer Utility software. But that process almost unnecessary with the S414 version. With the unbelievable price tag, this camera will be sought after very fast. I do hope that Photo Magazine reviewers will do justice to this camera. This was due to the fact that Dimage S304 was launched together with its 'big brothers' - Dimage 5 and 7 - but all of them using the same technology. As a result, it( Dimage S304) never caught serious attention from camera reviewer.

Wow...........best thing I've purchased in a long time.
Does alot more than I need it to I'm happy at the price, it's
delivery and packing.
This year I'm off to the Algarve again, but I've just booked
3 weeks in Orlando and am I glad I've got this camera.

Only 1 downer, it's thank powerful, batteries..............
and picture quality..wow..............but it needs a big compactflash..........but I'd still recommend it!
