Philips Jackrabbit Mobile DVD Player CDRW and MP3 Player

(4 out of 5) by Itoro Akpatang on May 20, 2004 (London United Kingdom)
I would recomend it to anyone. it is practical, rubust, cute, very functional and it is a standalone Mobile DVD Player CDRW and MP3 Player. Though it has some compartibility problems, especially with older computers, and computers with USB 1.1 devices face lots of dificulties, even after intalling the software drivers. Also the remote control has lots of limitations in terms of functionality and poor sensor/signal. outside that its just "the perfect machine". to get the best out of this device, ensure that you beat the minimum requirement, recomended by the Manufacturers.

Jackrabbit as a portable DVD player (in-car)

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on May 4, 2004
+ CAN READ MP3 FILES FROM A DVD DISK (even when not connected to PC - Standalone DVD)
- Takes a long time to read the entire disk.
- Displays all MP3s in a continuous list. Not separated by folder. Cannot sort in any way.

+ Does not (rarely) skip when used in the car.
- A bit slow to respond to keystrokes on the remote.
- Only Region 2 as standalone DVD player
- Crashes sometimes, especially when used as MP3 player (on DVD disk)
+ Cheap on Amazon.

Do not underestimate it.

Im a guy that loves USB products and i dont use my PS/2 any more, i have the mouse, Keyboard, printer ,Hdd, ati remote, joystick and probably something more on USB, and when i saw this i imediatley fell in love, i often value functions more than speed like my Matrox Parhelia 512 with three monitors.

This External did have a DVD Player that was able to plug directly in to the TV and it only tooke my a few seconds to set it up and i was watching DVD on my TV, and after that i was burning Cds in 32X on my Pc with just a few cables changes.

It has Digital output for real 5.1 sound and irt supports VCD/SVCD/MP3/DVD and mucth more fun.
"PLUG & PLAY" without even using any software in XP.

Thoe a little minus on the sound when reaching highspeeds. this Jack Rabbit i will never give away, and my dad liked it cause he can borrow it and use the DVD Player, sheep bastard ;).

i recommend it cause its flexible and the engineers on Philips has really used their POWER on it. WELL DONE PHILIPS.

Beware - Not a multi-region player !

I've just had to return this player to Amazon as their description did not specify that this is a region 2 player only..I hope they have updated the decription on the site by now. Otherwise this is a good player albeit a little noisy.
