Sony's user friendly light but technology fat camera!

I brought this camera couple of days ago after weeks of research on various websites and magazines. This camera has got all the little goodies you need for a very good price. The ease of use is amazing, strap the camera on and your fingers are in the perfect place to use every single button. The colour touch screen is very impressive and makes the camera a quality purchase. The addition of the memory stick slot enables the camera to take still images and mpegs on the card which is a very useful feature if you want to transfer to pc quickly.
This camera would get 5 stars if it wasnt for the short battery life. With the viewer open you only get about 100 mins filming time but its not a major issue as you can get longer life batteries separate, however be expected to pay about £90 for a good one. A 8mb memory card is supplied which is good but this can only take about 4 mins of video and about 100 pictures, depending on the size and quality of the image.
Overall - a very good quality stylish camera for the price, including all the sockets and bits you need to connect up with external devices. Includes a usb lead for pc connection and video cable (red, white, yellow cable) to connect directly to tv or vcr to see your film on, comes with remote aswell if you dont want to operate from the touch screen all the time. Quality piece of kit and i highly recommend it for the gadget lover. :)

Clever Box of Tricks

I bought one of these today, not my first camcorder, but an upgrade to digital from an old Sharp viewcam, and I have to say I am amazed at the difference. Its amazing. Apart from the ultra compact design, its very light, and small enough to fit in your handbag without being fiddly. When holding the camera all the necessary buttons seem to be in just the right places, so you can just get on and shoot the film without finding buttons! The menu is via the touch sensitive screen, and is very easy to navigate. With the dv in/out and memory stick, it has all the features you could possibly require, and many more, for a very reasonable price, and the high quality sound and vision we have come to expect from Sony and Carl Zeiss - a happy marriage!

Sony's Latest Camcorders

(4 out of 5) by Steve on May

I bought the Sony TRV-22E camcorder after much deliberation (originally choosing the TRV-18 then discovering it had been discontinued!! Doh). It comes packed with many features, including Colour LCD display giving you an idea of how the shot will be, Low light capture which really defined when there isn't much light about and Memory stick compatible to shoot stills (it appears as a disk on you're PC) The picture quality is amazing taking full advantage of the Zeiss lens that comes on most Sony's, it is practical as well as functional having a small footprint size (not as small as micro but close enough). I chose this model because it has DV in/out for editing my future videos, playback control is via touch screen on the viewer which is a nice touch but I would recommend that you get a stylus for this operation as it has a better feel and won't get marks on you're screen over time. The Sony TRV22 is a great camera in my eyes and I am sure I will have years of fun with it. A few niggly points though, you do have to buy the tapes separately and a carry case which does not come as standard, but all in all it's the camera for me.
