Great Product but...
I bought the minidisc as I travel away from home alot and didn't want to always carry around loads of CD's. Recording a considerable amount of music to minidisc is just what I wanted and it does the job well. The software is fairly easy to use, and using XP home (so far) I've had no problems. It is a very smart looking unit and is certainly very light. It fits comfortably in a shirt top pocket. The remote control takes a bit of getting used to. Battery life on the supplied rechargable battery has been excellent. The supplied carry case is just about adequate to prevent wear and tear but is not sufficiently robust to be of permanent use. It's a pity that the charging cradle doesn't have a USB connection...but you can't have everything at this price, which is by far the most competitive. The "but"... When reading earlier reviews concerning the level of output I believed that other buyers were complaining that it just wasn't LOUD enough e.g. booming through the headphones, which meant that it was probably OK for my old ears, but, listening to music in a quiet room on your own the volume output is acceptable, however I struggle to hear rock music at full volume whilst travelling on a plane. Admittedly I was not using the supplied earphones, which I can never seem to get to stay in place, but a basic Sony set of portable headphones. Whilst I don't want my music to deafen me and others, I do like to have it fairly loud and this is a very disappointing feature. The unity does not require the "noise reduction" feature.Overall I'm very pleased with this minidisc player. It's just what I needed, but because the volume output is insufficient for travel it looses one star.

It's even better than it looks
This is a fab little machine, the sound quality on LP2 is just as good as the normal sound. Did anyone tell you, it even has virtual surround sound. The software despite what other people tell you is amazing, and my computer is C#£P. But honestly for 120 smackers you could'nt ask for more. The slim LCD remote just makes this machine the best out there, with everything on it including editing functions. One thing to note though read the instructions it tells you in a lot more detail about the battery. I've read other reviews and they complain about the battery. Though I found that to get the full 81 hours battery life you need to have your music recorded on LP4. My conclusion you could'nt ask for more.

Not a bad little number
I was looking for a replacement of my Panasonic SJ-MR200 which was a good MD, but lacked the technology of the NET MD. I will keep this review short and say that it is a very good MD with good battery life and loads of things you can do with it. The PC software is excellent. The only reason why i have given it a 4 instead of a 5 is simply because i thought it was quite big. Compared to my old MD it is slightly bigger, but saying that if you want a smaller one then you are looking at about £100 more. So i am happy with my choice and would recommend it to anyone.

Good MD player with limitations
I just wanted to echo what another reviewer said:
Basically this is a fine MD player/recorder. The sound quality for live recordings is good, and all the editing functions are what you would expect from a MD player.
However - DON'T buy this player if you want to be able to download recordings from your minidisk player onto your PC. Although it has a USB cable, you are only able to copy audio files ONTO the MD player, not vice versa.

sony MZ-N710 MD walkman
Brilliant, i mean what a wonderfully crafted peice of machinery, it sounds great, the unit and the software is easy to use, and people will think your the dogs conkers with this in your hand, i couldn't reccommend it more highly, and there have been rumours that its volume levels are'nt high enough, well put it this way if you like to deafen yourself and listen to distorted music then this maybe true, for those of us who like to hear our music its volume levels are more than satisfactory, it doesn't mension very clearly in the description what you get so here we go, you get the carry case (high quality), sonic stage program, USB cable, Optical cable, recharge cradle (including power adapter), inline remote controller (very practical) and sony bog standard fontopia earphones (very good sound production)and the main unit obviously, you don't get a Mini Disc with it so be warned i bought the ten pack of 74 min multi coloured disc's very cheap. as i said i couldn't reccommend this more highly
