Nice Price, Nice Player
after using an MP3 player for a few years i decided it was time to upgrade to something slightly better, this player is ideal for both those experianced with mini discs and those who are using them for the first time. The mic in is great for recording my bands jamming sessions and the pc recording is simple and easy too, the ability to customise your eq settings is a rad idea.
If your thinking of buying this player i advise you to do so.
Peace out music lovers.......
Excellent BUT...
I knew from the start that i could not use the NetMD function with my computer as the software : Sonic Stage is very restricted and that's a real shame, I am a mac user and it is not compatible, but i have found another way to upload my music from my computer to my MD, it is just as good, but must admit that it would be great if i could actually use that function!
Also the other complaint but it is not something that can put you off, it is the volume, if it could go a little higher it would be better as even on full volume you can still hear the engine sound of buses.
Apart from all of that, it is a great little gadget, for me it was a great buy.
An Excellent piece of kit
It comes with all the software and connections you need to download music from a PC or CD player equipped with an optical output. The only thing you may need to buy is a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to record from other audio sources.
There has been much discussion here and other places concerning the power output to the earphones (1.2mW x1.2mW). Ican say that the earphones supplied work well in fairly noisy environments and with the AVLS off. If you travel on trains a lot, it may be a good idea to invest in snugly fitting earphones. Increasing the output is not a satisfactory method of cancelling out ambient noise. You need to stop the noise getting in (a corollary of this is that your noise gets out less).
The software was very easy to use and to install on this old slow machine.
Some have complained that uploading to a PC isn't supported (wonder why, given that Sony is a major record label). This is true, but if you read the spec, you'll already know this.
All in all a well priced, handy little thing.
