The best non-MP3 CD player on the market.

This is one of the most expensive cd players out but what you get is the smallest, lightest CD player with fantastic sound quality. It should be noted though that to really justify this CD player's price you have to use better head phones. I use a set of Sony MDR-V600 head phones that I've had for years and I love it but the stock headphones should be thrown out immediately. If your not willing to get better headphones get a cheap CD player because you won't hear the difference but if you want the best, this is it.

Good but not great

(4 out of 5) by G. J. Wilson on Jun 1, 2003 (United Kingdom)
Very lightweight design which does, however, feel a little flimsy. Sound quality is good, but i feel it tends to be a little bass heavy.
New earphones or headphones are a must but that applies to nearly every portable music system not just this one. I think maybe they could of made the jog controller in black to match the CD body, a minor niggle i know but this an expensive walkman.
One more thing, and actually this is the reason why i didn't give it 4 stars... volume! Or should i say lack of it. The D-EJ2000 does not seem to play very loud in my opinion. I travel alot and wear out walkmans very quickly and this one has the lowest volume of any i've had in the past few years and i always buy Sony. Can do better!!!

Sony D-EJ2000 Review

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 10, 2004
I got the Sony D-EJ2000 for Christmas and I am amazed at the size. I expected it to be small but not this small! Its expensive, but if you want the best, you just have to get it. The supplied heaphones do the player no favours and i would recommend getting a decent pair to appreciate the full quality of the sound. I also love the G-Protection, its great when jogging.

WOW!!! brilliant i will never change my cd player again. This is the best cd player in the world. THe sound is smooth, bassy and extremely melodic. I would highl;y recommend this piece of art to anyone looking for a quality cd player...9Note, i would definitely recommend buying new headphones)

Great Unit but no Volume

(3 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 26, 2003
This may be the smallest CD player in the world but I think it also has the smallest amplifier in the world too.I love it's size and features but even with some decent headphones the max volume is very poor indeed, it's bad enough sitting at home in a quiet enviroment but on a train or plane it can hardly be heard even at max volme.I am very disappointed with this product and wish I hadn't bought it now.A very expensive mistake. My advice is don't bother
