I was tempted by the cheap price of the Kodak D4330 but when I actually got to compare this camera and the Kodak (I'd narrowed it down to these two) the Pentax won hands down, and that was before I had even compared the features properly.
The Pentax is a truely pocket-sized camera, with enough weight to feel like a good quality camera but still quite light. It has nice sleek looks and although it is plastic and not metal, it doesn't actually feel plasticky.
I wanted a camera which was easy to use, but which would enable me to use more advanced features where available. This camera has a whole host of features which can be adapted to each scenario and your personal settings can be saved once the camera is turned off - something not all cameras in this range will do.
I've only had the camera for a week but I especially like the sepia and b+w functions. I know that a more experienced photographer will like to use a PC photo package to change their photos but that's not a priority for me right now. The flip-out LCD screen is also really handy for taking self portraits - there's even a separate self-portrait function!....

Being new to digital photography, but accustomed to the traditional SLR technology, I wanted a camera with masses of flexibility. I wanted the ability to take quick snaps, but also to be a bit more creative. This camera has it all.
Initially I found the vast array of possible settings slightly daunting, but within a couple of hours of trial and error I was finding the camera intuitive to use and fun into the bargain.
All of this and it fits in my handbag (unlike the SLR and associated gadgetry).
Doubt if I'll upgrade for absolutely years :)
