I upgraded my cinema kit from the panasonic SCHT-70 to this bit of kit, which also included the pioneer DV454. The amp is the bees knees though. It is immense! it plays DTS as well as Dolby Digital and boy does it sound good! (if you don't believe me put Blade II in your player!) I was hearing sounds that my panasonic player never picked up. There are many advanced sound settings, the best being Natural (for day time when neighbours are out!) and Midnight (allows you to hear all the sounds at a lower volume - very clever!) PLaying CD's brings new life to recordings. You can play stereo recordings through Dolby Prologic II. This is by far better than basic Prologic ever was!! Connections at the back are numerous, including a coaxial and optical connection. At the front there is another optical connection through which I put my playstation 2. Grand theft auto vice city has a DTS soundtrack which sounds superb!! If this doesn't make you want to go out and buy this now, then how about this - This system is based on seperates. So, when you are ready you can connect a DVD recorder to this amp and get fantastic sound quality again! Pioneer by the way have much shorter layer transfer speeds than either Sony or Panasonic. I have seen it with my own eyes!! I am VERY happy with my purchase.
