Great sound quality but not so good on longevity

(2 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Aug 14, 2005
I was thrilled with the sound quality of this little gizmo. I used it for listening to my IPOD in the car, and it worked beautifully at first.
But five weeks later and it's just decided to give up. First of all the sound from one speaker disappeard, then... silence.
And as it's over the 30 days Amazon guarantee, I can't get my money back. I've now bought a cheaper replacement (not a Sony) and I can immediately hear the decrease in sound quality. Such a shame this one didn't last.

Disappointed Sony Fan

(2 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 29, 2006
I bought this just over a year ago as an "upgrade" to a Goodmans adapter. There are three major probems with this product:
1. The mid band/treble is very forward to the point where it is painful.
2. The connection lead has failed where it enters the adapter so that the sound continually breaks up.
3. That would be easily repaired if the case had been screwed together, but it is glued and hence is difficult to take apart.

I have been using the Goodmans again, which sounds better and has proved to be more reliable. Maybe I was just unlucky?

Use this item with my Ipod in the car. Its excellent quality and has cable out the side so doesnt get tangled. need to make sure the tape is playing the right side as makes a bit of a racket if not...

Top value at £6

(5 out of 5) by Christopher W. Brierley on Dec 14, 2008
I wanted to listen to my iriver clix 2 in the car as it only has a cassette player and I did not want the expense of a CD player, also mp3 players take up far less room than dozens of CD's.I had read so many bad reviews of various fm transmitter adapters I decided to try a tape adapter. This sony one is cheap and has excellent reviews,so I bought one.It is excellent value for money and produces quite good quality sound, certainly far better than the actual tape players does.It does create slight background noise in the speakers, especially the left one. However this is easy to overcome, turn the volume up high on the MP3 player and down on the radio, noise virtually gone and certainly inaudible under any driving conditions. It only fits cassette players where the tape goes in end on.My 5 star rating takes into account it only costs £6

Happy with purchase

(4 out of 5) by Mr. R. J. Cullum on Oct 18, 2008 (UK)
I was nervous that this would not work because I was aware that when a cassette goes into my stereo it moves downwards behind a small metal plate - I was therefore concerned the cable would be cut or jammed - it wasn't a problem.

It does work best with the iPOD volume on full, rather than the stereo volume high up - there is a bit of hissing in between songs, but I guess that was always the case with tapes!!

I would recommend this product for those that want to use their iPOD in the car
