What you pay is what you get...

This adaptor does do its job in terms of streaming sound out of the audio system, and does so with pretty good quality in comparison to its cheap looking build. However, neither Sony or any reviewer so far has mentioned that there will be constant subtle scratching sound, probably cause by the tape head, which is extremely evident in the silence between tracks and once imbedded in your hearing radar, this can be very annoying during driving.
I purchased this tape deck adaptor rather than the radio tansmitter type just for the reason it was far cheaper. Conclusion, I give this a 2 merely for its price tag. It does what is says on the tin, but it is definitely not the best gadget around. If you have average or better hearing, I strongly advise against buying this. The subtle noise will be really annoying!

No need to ever have an in-car device fitted!

This product is a revelation to me, nothing else is necessary for playing your ipod in you car, simple, with great sound, that's it!

useless

The mechanical noise of this adapter is so loud that it is useless for listening to music.

Buy this - not a cheap one

(5 out of 5) by S. Jackson on Jun 6, 2005
I bought the iRiver H140 and thought that cassette adapters were pretty much the same so bought one for around a fiver. Boy was I wrong. It rattled in the cassette player and never played in stereo so I invested in this one. What a difference! No rattles and great sound. So when you've paid a pretty penny for a decent mp3 player you absolutely have to invest in a decent cassette adapter - I totally recommend this one.
