A little known manufacturer, but what a product!!

I was a little suspicious of this product when I first saw the name Gainward on the box. Even though I was replacing a 3DFX Voodoo 5 card, I decided to give this unknown name a go... I'm so glad I did! This card easily has twice the power of the Voodoo chipset and with the dual CRT(VGA)/LCD and TV output, there's no better card for gamers, those who want to watch DVD's and those who want to work in serious style. If you want to do your top of the range PC justice, buy this card now and I promise you won't regret it!

Gainward Ti4600

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 27, 2002
Dont be fooled by the "unknown" name. Gainward are one of the best graphics card makers on the market. They have won numerous awards from Nvidia and hundreds from magazines and the Ti4600 is of no exception. Based on the best chipset Nvidia offer and improved with faster RAM. The card is capable of dual display meaning two independant monitors can be used, allowing you to watch fullscreen dvd, or tv, on one monitor while surfing the internet on the other. Software included allows the card to be overclocked givin geven more improved performance. This card is certainly only needed for the most hardcore gamers or video editors. The lower specced Ti4200 will over the average user great benefits at a much lower price than this yet still allows the latest games to be played on it.

Required to really enjoy this year's games

I bought this card to experience Unreal Tournament 2003 the way it's MEANT to be played - with ALL graphics options turned up. It handles it easily, at high resolutions too. If you want to be well equipped for all the big titles coming out this year (Unreal 2, Doom 3 etc), want to play all the rewites of old game engines (Tenebrae Quake, Quake2Max) or just want to increase your framerate substantially (when's the last time you had 240 FPS?!!!) but don't want to wait for the GeForce FX (which will cost you the annual budget for a small country anyway), then this is your baby. Oh, and it comes with a free game, but I'm not telling what it is :) Overall, an excellent purchase - I couldn't be more pleased!
