Most Helpful First | Newest FirstSimple, good sound and small, some weaknesses
The controls are very simple - you get play/pause, skipforward and back, volume up and down, and an A-B/repeat button to allow you to repeat the current track or part of it.
There is no screen giving details of current track (but that doesn't really bother me) and there isno random order function (the order files are played is dictated by their directory order on the memory stick.)
No drivers are needed for recent versions of windows except 98/98SE. Installation in windows 98 is simple, as long as you don't have any other USB storage devices (or have ever used one on your PC) in which case the installer may crash and get itself in a major mess requiring manual registry editing to correct.
The sound quality is good, although at extremely quiet points some strange non volume-dependant background noise is noticeable. This is not at all noticeable 99% of the time, though. The player can go much louder than i require it to, increments are about right. The minimum volume level is fine, but i'm surprised it can't go lower before cutting off completely.
Connecting the player to my PC speakers gave very good sound quality, which makes me think that the headphones aren't exceptionally good, but they certainly aren't awful - they are miles better than other in the ear headphones that i have.
The size of the player is good, and it feels pretty well built. The two halves can be hard to seperate if your hands are at all sweaty, but at least that means they won't just come apart during use.
My biggest dissapointment is that the player can only store 60.4Mb of music or data files. I think the other 4Mb are taken up by files used by the player. The memory isn't upgradeable.
Using a good codec to encode your music (eg MS WMA format) can allow you to get two complete medium to long albums into that.
The player's firmware is not upgradeable.
Battery life is surprisingly good for one AAA. I'm using NiMH rechargables which work fine.
Plugging the unit into the back of a desktop is a bit of a hassle, and may require unplugging other USB items if the ports are close together, but if you have a USB hub on your desk it's easy.
Small & sleek yet mighty!
This new MP3 player couldn't be eaiser to use. It has that X-factor you can be assured will gain you admiring looks from your tech obsessed friends and yet also delivers surprisingly powerful and high quality sound reproduction. Perfect for at the gym or cycling and you really do get a lot of play from your AAA battery.
With its grag and drop facility for MP3s it really is as easy as just moving files aound your drives and you be surprised at how much you can fit in the 64megs.
And if that wasn't enough - just fill it full of your work files and transport them from PC to PC at an even smaaler size when the battery pack is removed.
All in all this is the simplest thing in the world to use, has the best of both world in storing data and being an MP3 player, lokos fantastic and at under a ton you can't really go wrong. If I had to list a drawback it would be that the headphone buds don't live up to the quality of the signal produces, but then that's just an excuse to go out and get those sony's that have been tempting you for the last month.
All in all - top work from creative.
A high quality, budget mp3 player and memory chip.
The first thing you notice about the Creative MuVo mp3 player is how small it is. With the main module itself (the white part) about 5x10x50mm, the rest is only the battery pack, and still easily fits into the palm of a hand. I keep thinking I'm going to lose it out of the (tiny) hole in my pocket.
What's more the sound is very high quality is well (depending on the mp3 bitrate of course), as long as you have a decent pair of headphones. The only real downside is that there is no LCD screen and basic controls, but as long as you only need basic controls that's fine.
As a portable storage device it also delivers. With 64Mb of space, it is enough for all but the largest files, and easily plugs into the USB port of a computer. WindowsXP/2000/Me detect it automatically, and no setup is needed.
For it's price (one of the cheapest around), it is great value.
Small in size but not in quality!
As soon as i clawed my way through the packaging and plugged it into my PC(running windows XP) it immediatley recognised it and i was able to drag files into the drive. My wma files did not skip at all as others have said. The max volume was above what i would have wanted so i was pleased about that. The lack of an LCD screen did not upset me in any way. Whats the point of it telling you what song you are listening to when you can hear it. And the lack of it makes up in battery length - 10+ hours on 1 AAA battery!
GOOD -
tiny, Simple, Good sound quality
Bad-
Maybe too small for clumsy people, earphones a bit poor, but buy yourself some cheap good make ones and you'll be very happy.
To sum up this is a brilliant mp3 player and very discreet.
Of you're looking for a simple, discreet mp3 player which does NOT lack quality due to its size - BUY IT! 10/10
Good tiny MP3 player for travel
Before you buy this MP3 player, you must ask for yourself what you need.
- I like MuVo because is very small and light
- I use MuVo in walk and travel
- With 64 Mb memory you can have about 12 quality tracks
- Is very fast booting
- Is very fast to copy files from one computer to another
- You can repeat tracks
- Sometimes i got a problem to turn on
- You need to remember tracks order when you whant to select a specific track (you don't have display)
- You only have 64 Mb or 128 Mb options
- You can't upgrade firmware to play another formats
Conclusion:
For me is a good choice to listen quality music when i go to walk or running. I also use MuVo to copy files from notebook to desktop computer.
