Good but shop around

(4 out of 5) by ICG on Oct 24, 2005 (UK)
Overall the sound quality is pretty good, I mainly use my speakers to play music and intended to get a set of 2.1 but tried JBL and Creative's efforts and found them all lacking in the mid range (huge muddy bass and tinny treble nothing in between).
I eventually bought these on an impulse and I'm very pleased with them. The remote is excellent, the speakers feel weightly and of decent quality (stands are metal except the one for the remote).
A lot of reviews say the bass is lacking, it's certainly not as powerfull as some other speakers on the market but it's also much less intrusive pretty much all subs below £150 aren't going to give a tight bass response and will sound a bit muddy, I feel getting a decent balance across all frequencies is much more important which these do pretty well. Also they're much prettier than the creative inspires.
Two minor gripes, the cables on the front speakers are quite short, and there is a very quiet background hiss, you can't hear it unless you hold the speakers to your ear (and most cheaper systems also have it because the shielding isn't perfect) I'm a pedant so it annoys me, dont let either of these put you off too much.
Last point shop around I got them on the high street for £65 you definately shouldn't be paying more than £70 because creative t5900s sell for around £50 now and while these are better looking and sounding they're not worth much more than 20 quid more.

Surround Sound

(4 out of 5) by Euan McColm on Sep 20, 2003 (Linlithgow, West Lothian United Kingdom)
It doesnt get much better than this in this price range! My fathert bought me it for my birthday and i have been very pleased with it. It comes with a deep sub and the wires are more than addequite to fit round any room. The ease of setup was great too. Ive got another setup in my house. The other speakers cost more and in mt view sound the same. The only problem is that the subwoofer is an odd shape and is hard to find a good place fo it
