A Suberb DVD player

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 21, 2002
I got the Kiiro X5 DVD player for my birthday and it does everything I need it too. Multi-Region DVD's, MP3 CDs, CDs... You do have to ask Kiiro for a firmware upgrade disk if you want to play VCDs and SVCDs, and this came within 4 days of sending the email with full instructions (although it is as simple as turning the player on, inserting the disk and waiting for 2 minutes!) Since it reads CDRW CDs, VCD's and SVCDs recorded on this format work fine and are excellent quality, so now Ive put all my holiday movies on VCD! This DVD player would still be a bargin at twice the price!

Hmmm. Its OK..... but

(2 out of 5) by Mr. M. E. Leach on Oct 21, 2002 (Up North)
I ordered one of these to replace a Sony DVD player that was only region 2, for the price on offer it seemed too good to be true and to be honest it was. The player does do what it claims to do but its lacking in a few departments... the build quality is awful, the case on the player wasn't fitted correctly so the first thing I had to do was to take it apart and re-fit the cover. The drive action on the player is weak to say the least. Its kind of hard to be-grude the player as its so cheap but I do expect a certain level of quality from a player thats meant to be from a reputable company. It does work and it does do what its meant to do but if you want build quality then look elsewhere (its kind of like buying a korean car, it does the same as a mercades but it doesn't look as good and isn't built as well).

Xiiro X5 - plays anything you throw at it.

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Sep 25, 2002
The Xiiro X5, is a great value DVD player for the features it holds.
It's ultra slimline, and packed with great features.

It also will hook up to pretty much anything you've got a plug for. For example, it connects to RGB scart, SVideo, Composite Video, and has a built in Dolby Digital Decoder and support for DTS. It also has both digital optical and coaxial outputs for audio.

This DVD player can auto-sense regions and seems to play with ease all the DVDs my old player struggled with. - things like the Matrix, (a real problem disc for some players) and other American titles that would stop half-way thru the movie and refuse to continue to play.

The Xiiro X5 also plays MP3's, CD's (which sound amazing via the Optical output) and the standard VCD formats (VCD v2 and VCD v3.0) and SVCD.

The remote control also shows off some of the other features that my old player didn't have (slow-motion - (forward and reverse), a useful zoom feature and just has a generally well laid out feel to it.

I would thoroughly recommend this player to anyone considering it.
