(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jul 22, 2002This is the coolest looking hi-fi system around by a long way. However it is also one of the best technically aswell. Although the speakers do not appear to be that powerful they do have a very large frequency range and therefore they can generate a very large sound when you want to. The bass enhancement is also extremelly effective and very powerful. This hi-fi has a top quality cd and md inside and a fantastic image.

The most stylish hifi I've ever seen - at a price

Unlike most hifis on the market, this one does not have a cassette deck (I mean, who uses tapes any more?). And who needs to, when you can use the great MD facility instead. Despite its size this system packs a punch, the speakers are reassuringly heavy whilst the remote control is a mere 5mm thick! The only downside is the price, but this will become a centrepiece, wherever it is placed, especially with the illuminated speakers. Yes that's right folks, the cones in the speakers glow the same colour as the display and buttons on the unit - looks great in the dark!
If you're looking to spend proper money on a hifi you can't go wrong with this one! Sheer genius, my full respects to Sony. The only slight downside is the price - got a birthday coming up soon? ;)

A very good buy, definetley worth the money...

Having looked further into the detail of the product I saw that this was just not a beutiful peice of metal and plastic but a pure inspiration of genius. Top marks to sony and even though they have brought out the new version with a pc-link connected to the system, the colours of the flourescent blue and the black blend beautifully and the sound is fantastic. If your wanting a system that looks sleek, sophisticated and has everything an electronics geek could want, buy this product and never look back!! FANTASTIC BUY, WORTH ALL THE MONEY I PAID FOR IT!

It looks and sounds sooooo cool!

The front of the unit is only a couple of mm larger than a CD album cover. Which is great if you want a subtle and stylish system.
I can't fault the sound of CD or MD, particularly useful is being able to record radio to MD.
