One set of the best speakers....

(5 out of 5) by Nick K. on Oct 24, 2003
What can I say about these literally beautiful speakers!!!!! Sound is CLEAR, CLEAR and CLEAR. This is one of the very few times that the product surpassed my expectations. I believe you won't find another set of such quality speakers at that price.
I would suggest this set of speakers without any second thought. If you find a chance, try and listen to them and see what I am talking about.
Well done Altec Lansing, very well done indeed!!

Small, but perfectly formed!

(5 out of 5) by G. James on Aug 24, 2003 (Finland)
This set of speakers has to be the best pound for pound speaker set I have ever come across.

In the sound industry a great deal is made of the sound clarity at both the top and bottom end of the volume range and all I can say is that with the quality that these pump out and any volume you care to mention, I personally would pay twice as much fro them and still be very, very happy!!

Good System

(4 out of 5) by J. Chapple on May 20, 2005 (UK)
The Satellites are very crisp and clear indeed. However, since the moment I bought these, the bass was to high - so I thought, "OK, I'll just adjust the bass", but in fact, the subwoofer does not have bass control which was a major let down. I've had these speakers for maybe 3 years, and the paint is badly worn off around the volume control, also, recently I am hearing crackling while changing the volume -- I keep the speakers in as good condition as possible.

If you have a bit of money, I would recommend the Altec Lansing FX6021 speaker system - by far the best 2.1 speakers available today and very nicely priced.

Not perfect, but bloody good

(4 out of 5) by Compulsive Electronics Buyer on Oct 8, 2004 (London, UK)
I think other reviews I've seen for these speakers might exaggerate their ability a tad. 20 watts RMS isn't a huge amount of power, so these speakers can't do anything amazing volume-wise. If you want loud speakers, you probably shouldn't be looking at a 2.1 set anyway.

That said, these things are £33. They look very nice, and they do produce enough volume for a single listener to damage their own hearing. Up to about 2/3 volume (which is louder than you should be listening to your own music anyway) they are distortion-free, and the sub might be a little small but it gives music a real kick.

Everyone should have a set of speakers AT LEAST this good, and at this price there's no excuse for not having them.

You won't get better at this price!

As soon as I heard this system I knew I had made the right choice. Rich sound, full bass and good looks - who could ask for more. Compact and easy to set up, I am sure it would complement any PC, DVD, Games console or MP3 player.
