This is so sweet, I've just had it delivered and I was up and running within 10 min! I was really happy that I could use my Mac to configure it too, it's all set up by your web browser and that only takes a few min as once you've entered your BB account details the router needs to reboot but that only takes a min or two and then that's it!
I would defiantly recommend this product to anyone who needs/wants to share a single DSL connection with multiple Macs or PCs or like me both.
Excellent product.
hassle free setup with xbox live
Apologies for the heavy 'xbox' content in this review, but when I was looking for a router it was a bit difficult to be sure which ones would work with xbox live since the 'safe' list on the uk xbox live site seems to show US model numbers. Thought I'd let anyone else interested know that the 504 works perfectly and easily.
After a bad experience with wireless networking a couple of years ago I sat down with the 504 expecting an evening of frustration but connected the pc and then the xbox with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The instructions were simple and complete (and matched the info I had from my isp). I actually couldn't believe I'd connected to xbox live for the first few minutes, it was so seamless.
If you're considering hooking up to xbox live and want an easy piece of kit to do it, I totally recommend the 504 (and it's great that I don't need to 'dial in' to adsl anymore on the pc either since the router maintains the connection).
Great low-cost broadband access for multiple computers
I have 2 PCs with the possibility of a 3rd plus a Sony PS2. I want all to share broadband access to the internet. The DSL 504 meets my requirements exactly. Had the device active and connected to my PCs in minutes. A little longer for the ADSL connection, but this was my fault and not the router's. Looks good, works well and is inexpensive. Not sure about the firewall capabilities but they seem to be adequate for me.
No more dropped connections!!
Simply a great piece of kit - which is light years ahead of the "green thing", which came as part of the standard BT Openworld Broadband setup installation ie the Alcatel speedtouch. Unlike the Alcatel, the DSL-504 keeps your connection 24-7, so when you turn on the Pc in thye morning and log on, you get an instantaneous reaction. Brilliant. Highly recommended.
What a brilliant ADSL router...
Well it took me 10mins to get it all connected and another 5mins to get it all up and ruunning! I have never looked back since then, it is constantly on and the best thing is i have connected it to my PS2 for online gaming. So i now have two PC's connected to it and a PS2... A very good buy....
