Great compact

I really liked this camera - so much so, that I bought 2. But I've now bought a digital SLR so I'm just going to keep one of them as back up.
I've never had a problem with image quality at all, but you do have to pay attention to what the camera is telling you i.e. there are little lights to show you when it needs flash, is in/not in focus. I think if people say they have a problem with the images they are not using the camera correctly. I agree, it's not the most instant of camera's, but it's a good, solid little camera for everyday use.
It can sometimes be hard to get it to focus lock e.g. at about 7000 feet looking at wispy cloud on a mountain covered with snow. But if you persevere you can learn how to overcome this.
Bear in mind, it's a 170 zoom. So at longer zoom lengths you need a steady hand or a tripod.
I've used mine a lot when walking, and had some great shots of wildlife - so much so that my local shop that I use for developing didn't believe I'd taken them with this camera.
I now have an array of cameras, and many of the film cameras will go. But I will always keep one of these in my collection.
A nice little compact

I bought this camera back in 2002 when digital was still very expensive, and have been impressed with the results.
The zoom is pretty good and you can choose a number of different shot types (portrait, landscape etc). It produces really nice photos- well exposed, sharp and with bright colours.
One thing to beware of- there's a small dioptre adjustment just next to the viewfinder (a little grey coloured wheel). It's fairly easy to move this by mistake, and if you do you'll find that the view through the viewfinder becomes blurry and your photos will also be blurry. It's simple enough to correct though- just adjust it back until the view through the viewfinder is crisp again.

Very poor images produced with this camera, very blurred photos 3/4's of pictures either blurred or too dark. Red Eye reduction very confusing for children, they think you have taken the picture to early and are off before you take it! Ending up with alot of side/back of head shots. Disappointing results.
