This should be 10 Stars +

There just isn't enough to say about this amazing piece of kit.

There are so many features and functions with this (the best) DVD recorder on the market by far. What is missing from most DVD-Rs is the fact that you can not play them back on most (if any) other DVD players, but with this one you can.

It is also a Multiregional recorder that uses DVDR & DVDRW discs and it is CD-R and CD-RW compatible with straightforward One-Touch recording and Jog & Joystick remote controller that can record from built-in TV tuner or external inputs such as SKY. There is also an iLink (IEEE1394 standard) DV input & output on front panel (for DV Camcorder), 2 x S-Video inputs and 2 x composite inputs (one of each on front panel).

There is picture parameter adjustments for recording quality, including recording NR for enhancing picture quality when dubbing old tapes onto DV, combine that with VideoCD playback and PlayBack Control (PBC).

All this in a package that is only 7kg in weight and I think that you will be impressed for life.

Pioneer DVD7000 - Great, but .....

Dec 27, 2002 - By Amazon Customer

This is a fab piece of kit for all the reasons stated by the previous reviewer and Pioneer themselves. But - to use the latest 2 - 4x DVD-RW media, I have just discovered that a firmware upgrade is required!! This appears to involve obtaining a disk from Pioneer which is loaded into the DVD 7000 and sorts the problem. Why they couldn't have included the disk (or an advisory note) on issue is a mystery. I am hoping that this is a small deal - if not, my 7000 is on its way back! Beware - Pioneer have stated that using new media in the recorder before updating the firmware can damage both the disks AND the recorder!! I have informed both Pioneer and Amazon of this issue. Having said all that, recording on the disk provided (old media) is brilliant, easy and great fun...
