Display

This is one excellent DVD player, my only disappointment is the display is small and the remote control is difficult to read, but other than that 'GREAT'

Overall a good player, but...

(2 out of 5) by Ravi on Mar 29, 2003 (Basingstoke, Hants United Kingdom)
Overall I was very impressed with this Toshiba player. It really did live up to the hype. The picture quality was excellent the sound was very good, but even though it stated it was multi-region the picture kept flickering with a US DVD. Also, when setting up the player the default setting for 'Video Out Select' was Video. If your using SVideo like myself you'll find it difficult change it, as you can't get an image unless you use the convental video leads. I'm sorry to part with this player, but it doesn't seem to play foreign DVDs well.

SD220 Worth twice the price

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Nov 29, 2002
Top class DVD at a budget price. Plays all the types of discs, superb clear crisp quality on video and audio.

I've had a couple of other DVD players but sent them back as not happy with them. This one I absolutely love. And it is quite slim and good looking as well.
Build quality top rate. Cant speak highly enough about it.

Very good value for a good product

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 3, 2002
Agree with all the comments, it is very good product and the CD audio reproduces sounds I could not get with my HiFi CD player. It is simple to use and has all the connections you need, though I could only use the 2Ch analog because I only have ProLogic. My only negative comment is about the remote control, it is made from light gray plastic with white writing for the button names, so unless you have good eye sight or plenty of light in the room, or a very good memory for where the buttons are, then you will struggle.

An Excellent DVD Player

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Sep 17, 2004
The Toshiba SD220 DVD player is the successor to the award winning SD210. This new model has improved looks thanks to the stylish angled fascia, which carries the bulk of the controls.

The unit measures 430x225x69mm. However, it's not just good looks that set this player apart from the competition. Superb image and sound quality was a trademark of the SD210 and this replacement model doesn't disappoint in this department, thanks to the high quality 10-bit video DAC and 24-bit audio processor.

The SD220 has a good array of connections on the back, including SCART socket, composite, component and S-VHS video connections, plus analogue audio and Co-axial and optical digital audio connections. While the latter digital connections can pass Dolby Digital and DTS streams to suitable surround sound decoding equipment, the player also includes Spatialiser technology, to create a virtual surround sound from stereo speakers.
