Having owned this DVD player for over 3 years to date seemingly, there have been no downsides to it. The player has provided me with faultless performance over a sustained period.
The simplicity of the design enhances its manageability, and has made for many enjoyed film viewings.
What's more the over-riding on off switch is useful for overcoming any exceptional freezing or locking moment, should the player become static.

After hearing excellent reviews I decided to go against my initial scepticism of buying a non mainstream brand player and haven't looked back. It looks great, the remote has all the right buttons (including zoom, A to B, multi FF and RW speeds, subtitles etc) and a range of display options are available. The connections and digital decoder are also highly impressive and more likely to appear on a player twice the price. When connected to a decent speaker system it sounds awesome. Bar playing the piano, it'll do MP3's, multi region dvd's and V-player. My only criticism, which is very minor, is that you can not arrange tracks into folders when playing MP3's. If there are a 100 tracks this can be a bit annoying. My last word, don't waste your money on more expensive, lower spec branded models, do the rational thing.

This DVD player played everything i tried in it straight from the box. DVD-R, CD-R, CD-RW and MP-3 CD's. Very good DVD picture Quality...and looks well built. Its also region free from the box. Well worth a look at this price.

When I logged on to Amazon in search of a DVD player, this is what I was after. a: A budget player that wasn't going to do too much damage to my credit card. b: One that plays DVDs from any region. c: Something that plays DVD,VCD,SVCD,MP3,DVDaudio and any other format I could get my hands on. d: A good looking player with high build quality.
With this player, I got all of these things and more. It plays anything I can fit into the draw and the auto sensing multi-region function means that I don't even have to bother checking what region I'm playing, It'll work just the same. The player is solidly built within a sturdy metal case. It looks great, the picture shown here really does it no justice. And what's more, the picture quality is superb.
Unless you have a 51" plasma screen and demand the purist picture quality available, then save yourself a few hundred quid and BUY THIS PLAYER!

I received my DVD Player yesterday. Its the Third DVD Player i've had and i must say its maybe the BEST!

First the bad Points.

1. The Remote - Although not as bad as what some people say the only drawback to the remote is the slipping door on it. I dont know if i'm the only one who as this problem but the slipping door is very STIFF. The Quality of this is very bad!!! But the design of the remote (in the placement of the buttons) is very good a little big but not bad.

2. VCD MPEG - I dont know if it was just my previous DVD Player (Acoustic Solutions DVD551) But when i encode an AVI in MPEG VCD format and just burn it onto CD without formatted the cd for VCD i.e changing the MPEG to DAT. I am still happen to put the CDR into my old dvd player and then select the file and press play. With this player i'm not able to do this. But again this is not a big problem.

Other notes about this player include (Good Points)

1. When starting up it is in french (this is not a problem as we do need to remember that this is an french company) Its very easy to change the language)
2. The Sound quality of this unit is FIRST CLASS!!!
3. Picture is also good nothing special but an solid DVD picture
4. I like the way the zoom works on this unit too as you can move around the picture whilst in zoom mode and i like the way zoom is activated
5. The Way the picture shrinks and other features pop up when you press the display button is also very nice (a little like when you press the tv guide button on NTL DIGITAL)
6. I HAVE THE SILVER MODEL WHICH IS VERY NICE TO LOOK AT - Although not "SLIMLINE" its still a nice size for a dvd player.

I would recommmend first time dvd buyers and people wanting a second dvd player to take a close look at this beautiful.
