This DVD player played everything i tried in it straight from the box. DVD-R, CD-R, CD-RW and MP-3 CD's. Very good DVD picture Quality...and looks well built. Its also region free from the box. Well worth a look at this price.

Good budget priced player

Being a movie buff I wanted a cheap multi region player and after reading the reviews on Amazon, decided to give this model a whirl. You really do need to replace the scart lead supplied - it's very cheap. The machine itself is very sleek and very good looking. The menus are easy to navigate, but the remote is a little unresponsive at times. One problem I have noticed is a slight flicker in the top left hand side of the picture when playing region 1 DVDs. Sometimes it is barely noticeable, but the lighter the screen, the more prominent. This doesn't happen when playing region 2, so I know it's not the connections. I assume it has something to do with the TV, so if anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate any help there.

H&B 4420

The H&B 4420 is easy to set up & use.
The remote control sliding facia is o.k.
The supplied scart lead is not up to the job, So treat yourself
to a GOLD OXYGEN FREE SCART LEAD which will improve picture & sound quality.
A VERY GOOD player for the money

Impressive... most impressive.

Although H & B isn't a name I have heard of before, I put my trust in the Amazon and customer reviews, and I have to say I'm not at all disspointed! For the price, the player is everything I expected and a little more! For example, the microphone slot allows you to use the "karaoke" feature with the on-screen voices turned down.

It seems the only thing this player lacked was a decent manual, which only gave minimal information. So expect to play around with it for a while before being able to use all the features. Other than that, it is very pleasing. However, check the dimensions first -- although it is thinner than most players, it is also wider.

I have a mono TV plugged into it via Scart, and my hi-fi system via the standard AUX cables (both supplied), which means that I can listen to it in full stereo. There are also plugs at the back for a 5.1 surround adapter, if you have one.

They might not be a well-known company, but they make a very good quality DVD player for the price.

What more could you want?!

When I logged on to Amazon in search of a DVD player, this is what I was after. a: A budget player that wasn't going to do too much damage to my credit card. b: One that plays DVDs from any region. c: Something that plays DVD,VCD,SVCD,MP3,DVDaudio and any other format I could get my hands on. d: A good looking player with high build quality.
With this player, I got all of these things and more. It plays anything I can fit into the draw and the auto sensing multi-region function means that I don't even have to bother checking what region I'm playing, It'll work just the same. The player is solidly built within a sturdy metal case. It looks great, the picture shown here really does it no justice. And what's more, the picture quality is superb.
Unless you have a 51" plasma screen and demand the purist picture quality available, then save yourself a few hundred quid and BUY THIS PLAYER!
