I liked this unit to start with but when my brothers unit failed after eight months became weary, four months later my uncles unit packs up, low and behold on christmas day mine decided to leave this planet and not play any more .
All the players have the same fault will turn on ( switches skart connection on the tv) but no display and no functions still suppose you get what you pay i suppose but will go to argos next time

I had two and they both died, my sister is on her second

I bought one of these after reading the reviews and initially had the same problem as another reviewer - sound but no picture.
I sorted this - the scart connector sends S-VIDEO by default, not RGB and my TV expected RGB. This was configurable in the unit, but you needed a picture for the on-screen display. I sorted it by connecting it through my video to my TV, which enabled me to set the scart output to RGB.

It was then fine for a month. In fact I thought it was such good value I bought one for my sister. That turned up dead on arrival, but Amazon were pretty efficient at replacing it for her. She's still got it, touch wood...

Mine died after a couple of months, so sent it back to Amazon. Amazon did replace it immediately. However, my request for the DVD that was stuck in it fell on deaf ears (I obviously didn't want to cause any damageby levering it open before sending it back). Customer service completely ignored this request.

Anyway, I did get another one. Later, I replaced it with a Phillips home cinema system and relegated it to a spare in the playroom. Last time I came to switch it on, guess what - it was dead.

This was less than a year after the replacement was shipped, but I can't be bothered to send it back.

H&B DVD Player

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Feb 24, 2003
I've had this unit about a year now and must say it's very good value. Other reviews have mentioned the manual, and I agree it's useless, but the OSD is well setup and how anyone spent more than 10minutes to find the sound setup is beyond me.

The remote is the only major drawback - it does everyhing, it's just badly laid out and a bit small to use comforatble without distracting your attention from the screen.

On the plus side I can't get it to go wrong. I travel a lot and have DVDs from most regions and it's the only DVD player I've seen that plays them all, including some discs that a coleague's £400 all singing all dancing top of the range Philips got stuck on.

Great DVD Player

What can I say about this fantastic little machine. It has handled everything I have thrown at it including Region 1 NTSC DVD's, MP£ compilations, VCD's and JPEG's. The audio outputs are superb.
A great DVD player and wonderful value!

I purchased this H & B 5415s On recomendation from a friend who purchased one. It easy to install, and easy to operate. Plays DVD'Rs DVD'RW's and MPEG files on top off what is in the specifications. And Picture quality is as good as the most expensive one's on the market. My verdict. BUY. BUY. BUY.
