Brilliant DVD
I've never heard about H&B (probably because they are french) but I need it a DVD player with as much extras as posible without going bankrup. This DVD has it all and more. The picture is jitter free and the quality is top. The sound, combine it with my PC speakers (Inspire 5.1 5300) is perfect giving a truly Dolby Digital and DTS. You can even play CD-R and CD-RW which make just perfect for my music backups. Put it in this way, for this price you cannot find anything cheaper with the same quality. Well done Amazon and well done H&B, you have a winner in your hands!

H&B DVD player
Before purchasing ths DVD player i had never heard of H&B, but i think that it offers everything you could want at a cheap price.
It is multi regional so you can pick up some cheap DVDs on auctions, and not have to worry about them being Region 1 or what ever. This is another plus and that is people selling region 1 DVDs on auctions sell them cheaper than Region 2 because a multi regional DVD player is hard to find.
I was particularly pleased to see that this DVD player plays CD R/WR CD's these being CD's you can record over again and again.
I presonally recommend this DVD player, but at the end of the day comparing this DVD to other players by house hold names, its whether you want to pay for the name or what the player offers you.

Good for the price
The picture quality is as good as my old toshiba.
Once you have set the language to english it stays set. If you use the mode key on the remote to set the mode to search or skip you can use the remote to skip chapters or fast search. The layer change is very smooth and the 5:1 output is just not available on most machines of this price.

H&B DVD Player
Browsing through Amazon I found this DVD with Multi-Function at an excellent price. The only draw back to the machine was the lack of sound! Back to Amazon to read the reviews again, thank you to everyone who appeared to have the same problem. With good advice which I will try to clarify: go to Set Up - Audio. Turn Stereo on. You may also need to go into Set Up - Speaker and turn Stereo on. It is a bit of fumbling around but the sound will appear. Now it truely is a very good DVD.

Simple and easy
Having read previous reviews, I was half expecting to be in that minority of people who have had problems with this piece of kit. Happily, all seems to be well with my first DVD player.
Upon opening the box I found that the front panel was not clipped on properly, but this was fixed after a few deft pokes and clicks.
By simply plugging in the supplied Scart and power leads, the player was ready for action and the crisp image of the H&E branded screen appeared on my TV.
Like previous reviewers, I too had to fiddle with the onscreen setup, but thankfully this is a lot easier to follow than the manual. I was enjoying an epic battle between elves and orcs before I realised that I couldn't hear any dialogue: only background sounds. Experimenting with the audio setup options fixed this.
A word about the manual: useless, apart from the reassuring words about not needing to connect all the leads, and an explanation of the buttons on the remote control.
The remote control feels cheap and tacky but it does its job.
The picture is clear and sharp, the sound crisp.
It played a region 1 DVD with no problems.
Being a DVD novice I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. I feel like I've got good value.
Speaking to other novices I have one piece of advice I haven't spotted in other reviews: if your DVD player is destined to live in a glass-fronted cabinet, then get into the habit of opening the doors before pressing the eject button!
