Its Black!

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Apr 4, 2002
About half the size of a standard DVD this unit fits much more comfortably into my unit. Its black so goes with the rest of the visual equipment. Its optical out makes the transfer of MP3 or CD disks to minidisc a simple operation. An excellent quality of picture and sound. The remote is clear and easy to use.

Garbage fit for a dustbin!

Bought this dvd player thinking it would be great, i then built my collection of dvds steadily, and had 50 within about a month, it worked ok at first, but after about two weeks it started to skip and freeze all throughout films and there was also quite a noticable lip sync problem. i phoned the help desk at kiiro and they said they would replace it. i then was given one day later a second hand used model, so i put in the big lebowski dvd, and in the first 10 minutes it had skipped and paused 7 times. i would recommend people to save a litle harder and buy a brand name like sony. my only hope now is for a refund so i can buy a better player, a proven good one. i was attracted to the price, but the price doesnt matter at all if the player doesnt work. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!!!

Not so hot!

Having purchased the Kiiro on the basis of other reviews I was looking forward to viewing its qualities for myself. I have an almost new Panasonic widescreen tv and did not anticipate any problems. Unfortunately the picture from the Kiiro was very poor with a "diamond pattern" across the screen. On e-mailing Kiiro I was told to try a s.video to scart lead. This helped somewhat but the picture was still not great. I tried a friend's Samsung dvd player with a simple scart connection - the picture was perfect! Unless you want to go down the road of buying expensive leads I could not recommend this product. I returned mine and bought a Samsung instead. Sadly, no karioke; but at least a great picture.

Amazing Little Gadget

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 15, 2002
Played all of my dvd/vcd/svcd/mp3/cdr/cdrw/audiocd combinations with virtually no hesitation. The MP3 navigation system also seems to work ok with MPEG1 & MPEG2 video files though with these you can only play/stop/skip & pause (No FFwd/FRwd/Slow or Step functions). I previously owned a Samsung 709 which at the time cost more than twice as much as this machine and struggled to play properly anything other than DVD and AudioCD. The Karaoke facility is an interesting extra feature which if it were not for the omission of CD+G compatibility would have justified an extra star.

Don't want to rock the boat but....

I have had the player for a month now and on the whole it's been very good. However, I have noticed it sometimes gets confused when you first put a disc in.. once it jumped to a random place in the film when I FIRST put the disc in. And last night it said there was no disc, despite trying three different ones. In the end it worked after a hard reset...
