The biggest load of pants
Don't bother with this one have a look at a better manufacturer is my advice. I'm currently on my 4th machine in two months, and this one has now started acting up. The first one went on permanent standby after two hours of use, the second skipped and froze constantly when playing DVDs, the third one wouldn't load any disks no matter what kind they were, and now this one requires switching off for ten minutes before you want to watch a DVD otherwise it won't load the disks. Turnaround on the machines is great though you usually get one in about 2 working days, but I guess they're used to returning and sending out machines. And yes they do send out refurbished machines.
Have a look at the reviews before Xmas 2001 everythings fine, after that forget it,they've changed some of the features and it seems to have cocked up the reliability.
So to sum up - avoid this unless you like returning machines every other week.

The end of a long search
I admit I was at first apprehensive about this player as it has had its fair share of bad reviews but I guess you can get a bad one from any maker. Anyway it seemed to fulfil all of my technical requirements, it was black (getting harder to find), excellent price and IMHO looks great so I ordered one. Delivery took two days, the player was simplicity itself to setup and although it was a little narrow meaning I could not stand my skybox on it this was a small price to pay for what I have found to be a fabulous piece of equipment. I have experienced no problems to date (touch wood) and can only recommend this player. I don't even mind the 'Ping'.

Not so hot!
Having purchased the Kiiro on the basis of other reviews I was looking forward to viewing its qualities for myself. I have an almost new Panasonic widescreen tv and did not anticipate any problems. Unfortunately the picture from the Kiiro was very poor with a "diamond pattern" across the screen. On e-mailing Kiiro I was told to try a s.video to scart lead. This helped somewhat but the picture was still not great. I tried a friend's Samsung dvd player with a simple scart connection - the picture was perfect! Unless you want to go down the road of buying expensive leads I could not recommend this product. I returned mine and bought a Samsung instead. Sadly, no karioke; but at least a great picture.

Amazing Little Gadget
Played all of my dvd/vcd/svcd/mp3/cdr/cdrw/audiocd combinations with virtually no hesitation. The MP3 navigation system also seems to work ok with MPEG1 & MPEG2 video files though with these you can only play/stop/skip & pause (No FFwd/FRwd/Slow or Step functions). I previously owned a Samsung 709 which at the time cost more than twice as much as this machine and struggled to play properly anything other than DVD and AudioCD. The Karaoke facility is an interesting extra feature which if it were not for the omission of CD+G compatibility would have justified an extra star.

Don't want to rock the boat but....
I have had the player for a month now and on the whole it's been very good. However, I have noticed it sometimes gets confused when you first put a disc in.. once it jumped to a random place in the film when I FIRST put the disc in. And last night it said there was no disc, despite trying three different ones. In the end it worked after a hard reset...
