Sony Car Stereo Cassette Adaptor for all iPod/MP3/CD/MD/Walkman Players (Black)
Having failed to get good quality sound from a Griffin iTrip FM transmitter (it's hard to believe how many FM bands are actually taken up by local and national broadcasts, creating far too much interference), this solution seemed like a good alternative.
I wish I'd spotted it before the transmitter. Great piece of kit, producing excellent sound quality when coupled with a Sony Walkman MP3. I've seen reviews which suggest taking bits of plastic off the head, and problems with the sound of the tape mechanism. I can only say that I had to remove nothing, and the tape mechanism noises are no worse or obvious than when playing a normal tape cassette.
The unit comes with 2 warnings - switch Dolby off (for those old enough to know what that is)....and there's a rider on the packaging saying that the unit won't work with some cassette players (unhelpfully, there isn't a list of what these are - however because of the cable connection, it can only work with side loading cassette players, i.e. those with the heads on the right).
It helps that Amazon's delivery system is good too - quoted 3-5 days before it arrived, mine appeared after 2 days.

Review of Sony Car Stereo Cassette Adaptor For Mp3/CD
Not much to say - Simple yet absolutely ingenious =]
Still living in the 80's?
ICE designed for a bye-gone era?
No worries -
Slot this bad boy into your car cassette player, and you can completely avoid having to install an up-to-date music system. Slides in neatly and without fuss. No hiss, crackle or distortion. Decent length cable too.
Very chuffed with this purchase.
Job done.

Sony car stereo cassette adaptor
Absolute rubbish!
Been using an iTrip through the FM waves on my car radio
bought this to improve the sound quality - made it 50X worse!!!
a pure gimmick, best thing is to use a 3.5mm audio cable!!!!
don't fall for this

Works well and sound is good
Easy to use and the sound quality is fine. For those with older cars like the Punto II that had a bespoke cassette player you cannot really fit a different radio so this is the best alternative.
It Works well
after trying a couple of FM transmitters for my ipod i have gone back to the trusted cassette deck adapter and the sound quality is much clearer and consistant
