Great sound, great style, great value!
(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Nov 12, 2003I bought these recently from a local IT shop having seen them on display and wanting a way to spend my pay packet. Upon arriving home and setting them up either side of my monitor I was met with an unpleasant hiss from the satellites. After looking on the Internet to see if anyone had had a similar problem I found out that moving them away from the monitor solves the problem. The subwoofer is attractive as far as subs go, and has a similar styling to a Dell system (perfect!). All in all these speakers look great and the sound is amazing. These would be perfect for anyone who is looking for an alternative to 5.1 surround, otherwise I would recommend the Altec Lansing 5100!

A Fantiatic Piece of kit
(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Apr 29, 2003I recently saw one of these on display on the continent, you couldn't think it to look at itm but the sound it gives off is fantasic, full surround, full of body. I'd fully recomend this to anyone.

Simply amazing!

I suspect this model is no longer available but just in case you are looking at Altec Lansing speakers in general and wondering what they are like..just read this. The sound quality from these astonishingly small speakers is barely believable. The Sub woofer give a clean, warm, rounded sound which you can seperately adjust to your preference. Quite how the two smaller speakers can reproduce so clearly, precisely and without distortion is just far beyond anything that I have come across at this price (£45 in June 2004!).
Four years of complete satisfaction and there is nothing to say except...neat, well built, completely reliable, breathtakingly good, inexpensive and all you can expect from a 2.1. I am now thinking to upgrade to a 5.1 system and one thing is certain...Altec Lansing will be my only choice!
NOTE..I have utterly no connection with them in any way. If they were average or alright then that is what I would say and on that thread...my brand new TEAC flat panel DAB radio system, also a 2.1 with far bigger speakers etc..is just deeply awful and I thought they were quality manufacturers!
