I agree - it's fast; it's easy to install; it's wonderful unless......
If you think you will be able to move data from PC to PC on a CD-RW disk - think again!!
The Memorex Help Line told me that if I want to read a CD-RW disk on another computer I should leave it unformatted!!!!

I got this product a few days ago. Verdict? Very impressive, records suprisingly quickly and is relativily simple to install.

Its also worth mentioning that you don't need to convert mp3's to wave format before putting them on disc as they play on normal cd players with doing this.

When I orderd the drive it was 'Out of stock' and was told to expect a delivery date within 1 to 2 weeks, it arrived within 2 days. Approx half an hour to install hardware and software without a single blip in the proceedings (which for me is a minor miricle). The only gripe is that one (out of about 20) of the CD-RW's I had created on my old re-writer can't be read, oh yeah and where is the IDE connector cable? This drive knocks spots off of what I had before.

This is a fantastic piece of kit. It arrived today and i had it installed in no time. Fair enough there's no IDE cable but you shoudn't need one if you can read the instructions. And it does work on Win XP! It comes with Roxio CD Creator 5.0 so you have to go to Roxio.com for a free upgrade otherwise the software wont work. But after you've done this the sky's your limit!

I just wrote a 637mb CD in 3 minutes 11 seconds! ~~Need i say more?~~

The Amazon blurb promises everything you need to get started. True if you are replacing an old CD drive. If you are adding this one, or haven't got one yet (unlikely) you'll need an additional IDE cable.

Shame about the claim because everything else is great!
