Very Good

Mar 22, 2002 - By S J LOVELL/simonlovell_99@yahoo.com (United Kingdom)

I bought these speakers, because they got a very good review on a web site. They are good for playing games and listening to music. Put on some dance or drum & bass and the bass is detailed and really clear, but not muddy. The satelites are very good produce some bass, good midrange and clarity. When playing Quake III Arena use the Rocket Launcher - bass on full - Volume on 3 quarters and it gets loud!!! With big bass from the explosions.

Better than alot of 5.1

Jun 7, 2002 - By Amazon Customer

I recently had a P.C. made to order and had a soundblaster 5.1 sound card fitted. I had been looking for 5.1 speakers (surround sound) but had been dissapointed by the lack of quality in the sound reproduction. Size of speaker was also an issue. I have a TFT monitor and wanted something to compliment this. The Altac Lansing ATP3 2.1 are compact and have a great look about them, the sound quality is exellent, with deep low bass provided from the sub. A punchy system that has plenty of style and power. A must a this price.

Great sounding and affordable amplified speaker system

Sep 12, 2003 - By Amazon Customer

I bought these ATP3 speakers as a cheap way of listening to a variety of sound sources, rather than just for their designed function as computer speakers. Connected up to a DVD/video player using a superior Y-adapter "headphone-plug-to-RCA-plugs" cable, I use these speakers to listen to televison, videos, DVDs, CDs and even internet radio. From all of these sources, the sound is great: the bass is rich and deep, the treble is precise and clear, and the sound hardly distorts even at the highest volume setting (which is quite loud). It's only within the midrange that these speakers sound thin, but then the upright speakers are quite narrow. However, the shallow midrange is a minor criticism, as other speaker setups in this price range sound much more "tinny" than the ATP3s, for example the BA635 3-piece setup from Boston Acoustics. Also, I don't know how good these speakers are for computer gaming. One improvement I'd like to see on a future model is a digital input for better signal-to-noise from digital sources, as already seen on the Boston Acoustic speakers. Overall, I'm convinced that these speakers are the best in their class and price range.

Boom Boom!!!

I have used this baby for over 3 years and I have to say it never fail to amaze me! Altec Lansing signature Bass reproduction is really hard to beat. Trust me, the subwoofer can go really low. With the correct position of the subwoofer on the floor under your table, it tremors your whole room when watching DVD movies with lots of explosives in it!

By using ATP3 to listen to music, especially those recorded in a live concert is a one of the kind experience. You will be delighted that this ATP3 is a all rounder in sound reproduction.

For that price, it is worth it!
