Pretty good

Feb 17, 2004 - By Amazon Customer

Sound quality is far better than the stock ones you get with almost every sony walkman. Much more bass, and generally a fuller sound. One issue I had with mine was the right earpiece started making a very annoying clicking sound every time the bass went a bit loud, i.e. every drum beat :0 This was solved by taking the cap off and replacing it - the speaker had come loose. The volume control is handy (although i admit after all the time of wanting one I actually prefer to use the volume control on the walkman :P), and the cord length is good. The Jack isn't gold plated but personally I think gold plated jacks are a gimmick designed to make people go "oooo look it has a gold plated jack, must have it!" when in reality it doesn't offer advantage in the short term, and nothing a quick wipe with some brasso can't solve in the long run.

The reason these get three stars is that they are slightly big and the clicking issue.

Very Good

Feb 22, 2004 - By Amazon Customer

These earphones are very good, they are resonably priced and are all i could have asked for. They look good, the sound quality is great, they hold out well at high volume and are very comfortable. The winding case is handy but there is no real use for it.

These are the best choice for someone who doesn't want to spend alot of money on the MDR-EX71SLB ones, they are rediculous

Awful and misleading

May 6, 2004 - By Mrs. Nicola Milligan (Northern Ireland)

I had searched Amazon specifically for a product that had a volume control built-in (i.e. so that I didn't have to fiddle with the Windows volume control), which I assumed this had given the product title of:
"Sony MDR-E828LP Headphones with volume control"
Nope. No volume control.
I cut my losses and took them into work anyway.
When they are plugged into the back of the machine they won't reach your ears unless you crouch on top of the monitor!
All in all one for the bin. They may or may not be a good product otherwise - I wouldn't know. And unless 4feet from plug to earpieces are enough for you don't buy them.

unreliable

May 8, 2004 - By Miss L Cherriman (Kent, UK)

At first i was impressed by the quality of the sound, unfortunatley after a few uses an annoying clicking sound was made in the left earphone, eventually the bass sound gave up completely and nothing could be heard...
