Very Good Product

Oct 31, 2001 - By Amazon Customer

This walkman is one of the best cassette players from Sony. It has the best features a walkman can offer! With up to 35 hours playback time and a remote control, you'll be listening and having endless fun. Operates on one AA sized battery. The silver colour is the best to show off with the neat fontopia headphones. So small and lightweight at 161grams, it will slip in to your pocket unnoticed! Its got megabass control too! You know you want it!

Great sound and features, but maybe slightly too compact...?

Feb 23, 2006 - By Amazon Customer

This Walkman is undoubtedly far-better than the low-end Sony Walkmans, and that is evident in the excellent sound-quality this device is capable of. Dolby NR and a choice of either emphasising base or tone help block-out background noise or enhance vocals where appropriate. The remote-control unit is also handy, and you can plug your own 3.5mm-jack headphones into either the remote, or the unit itself.

On the downsides, you can only change bass/tone mode (or turn Dolby NR on/off) using the remote. Plug your own headphones directly into tape-machine, and you'll need to re-attach the remote-unit to alter these settings. The battery-life also only equals 60+ hours if one AA battery is used IN CONJUNCTION with the supplied battery, which lasts only 16-hours alone. The most major problem, though, is that the metal case is so compact and tight around the cassette, rewind and fast-forward often 1: stop, because the cassette's reels are under such force they can't move easily, so the machines auto-stop thinks the strain means the end of the tape and 2: battery life decreases because the extra strain needs more power for the motor.

Overall, great quality sound and effects and the remote—and track-skip (will automatically fast-forward or rewind to blank space in-between songs to mimic 'next-' or 'previous-track' on a digital device) are fantastic. Sadly the problems are rather irritating though, and cannot be overlooked. Once again, I am also sad to report that—as with all Sony tape-walkmans I've ever experienced—the 'rapid fast-forward and rewind (16x speed)' is still paltry compared with other brands, such as Panasonic. So, best to try this walkman out somewhere first I'd suggest.

Looks and sounds good but made up with scrap tin + plastic

Jun 9, 2002 - By Jamie (UK)

Dont be fooled by it's looks because when I bought one I thought that it looks good to. But when I finaly got it I opend the box got the cassett system out and what did I see nothing more then a big gap on one side of the door that shouldent of been there I was very disapointed. I desided to test it out anyway the sound is bril and there are many fuctions on it some you don't realy need. oh yeah there is another bad thing about this system the rechargeble battery door has a problem staying shut it seems to pop open sometimes so if the music stops its proply the scrapy rechargable battery door. oh yeah last thing they say you can get 60 hours playback they are joking I only ever had 8 hours out of it. believe me it not worth buying for the price there charging.

Quality sound and portable, lightweight with good remote con

Jul 15, 2004 - By Ganesh (London United Kingdom)

I have used this for over 1 year and it has given me great service. The sound is crisp and clear.
All the features are very useful.
Battery life >20 hours using a duracell.
Rechargeable >14 hours - never had problem with batter door.

Get one - it will be a delight to use.
Remote is good and allows acess to all of the features.
Earphones are ok, but but your are better of buying a better pair for the best sound quality.
