It's really good but....

I tried Sony's 810 VCR. All functions are superb and you really could feel that this is the VCR you've been waiting for. The dark side comes when you play a pre-recorded tape, which was used few times already. I've experienced tiny, black horizontal disturbing lines on the TV screen. It seems that the machine tries to hold the tape synchronized but it fails doing it in the background so the synchronizing actions are VISIBLE!! I also had to set the stereo sound manually for a brand new pre-recorded tape because Sony 810 couldn't keep the stereo sound automatically in track. I had the opportunity to check other Sony 810s and I've found the same problems. In my opinion these problems are not acceptable if you're watching rental tapes a lot, so I changed for another VCR, which delivers better picture quality in the same price category!!

This machine carries out all of its huge selection of features superbly. It is easy to use, picture quality is as good as you can expect from VHS and sound quality is excellent. It is well made too. I have had mine for just over a year and highly reccomend it.
